Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was visiting Toronto from New York on a family trip. I wanted to buy a few gifts for my family. I read about Holt Renfrew on line and was excited to bring my family to the store. The store carries luxury items for the ladies. The men's store is down the street. The store is also under heavy renovations and it may be a tad intimidating entering the store but the store has a friendly doorman who was a great help. He waved to my child and gave us water. He also knew the city really well. I entered the store and purchased some perfume and a purse for my wife. My daughter did not want anything and I got off easy. This store is full of all major luxury brands and is a gemstone in a large city. I can imagine it will be fantastic after the construction. Staff are pros in all departments and very helpful. I will return.

Nadia did such an exceptional job with my wedding dress. I’d highly recommend anyone use her for tailoring services.

If you are from the US, it is exactly like a TJ Maxx or Marshals, right down to the brands. The prices were comparable, and the styles were nothing unusual in women's clothing, shoes and beauty.

Big department store, great for shopping.

But it will not be easy to find a sales assistant if you need help.

Now that Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg all have Oumomo Japan Living to rival other Japanese retail stores and 200-yen stores in Canada, my family and I might have been slow pokes to only visit the Toronto one last week.

It's a big store that probably replaced a huge warehouse formerly used by another retailer that still shares the large strip mall at Green Belt Drive and Don Mills Road.

For us, the first visit was certainly novel. Japanese living may be quite different from Canadian living because we Canadians tend to like broad, utilitarian strokes and designs for larger spaces, whereas in Japan, everything has aesthetic details intended for small spaces such as apartments in Tokyo.

We liked the large varieties of almost everything from footwear to kitchenware to candies to ceramics and storage solutions. We picked up things such as computer gadgets and stationery that we would not normally find in conventional dollar stores.

What we did not find as much at Oumomo would be a wider selection of skin care products for women and men. There were lots and lots of facial masks and cleansers, but not much else.

But we found a dark chocolate bar called Meiji that gave us one of the best chocolate experiences ever. It was just over $2, true to most Oumomo's prices at $2 or close to it.

All in all, our first visit to Toronto's Oumomo was a lot of fun. However, we would like to see further business developments such as a point card, freebies, and other benefits to attract shoppers. After all, the free parking lot is so big that many people could visit Oumomo frequently even from another part of Toronto.
