Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely incredible. The boat was very impressive and allowed us get right into the shore line. Arron and Sarah looked after us very well and were very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about their work. We visited very picturesque areas. And also had the great fortune to see mother bears with their cubs. A truly unforgettable experience. We are now looking at other tours that Jamie’s offer while we are in Tofino. It’s a great set up, these guys clearly know what they are doing.

We took the 2,5hrs tour with the guide Laurence. The agency was easy to reach out, the staff is very professional and careful. The guide was very knowledgeable and fun and spoke 2 languages, making the explanation easier. The tour was rich of information. It was perfect!

We booked the bear watch trip- it was fantastic. We were on a zodiac with a small number of other guests. I felt very safe. The captain/ guide was very knowledgeable and knew the waters well. We saw two bears, harbour seals, and an eagle. It was wonderful and a great excursion. I w

TJ took my husband and I out for a photography expedition when we first got to town and we had an amazing day. He was so generous with his time and knowledge and although I've been photographing for many years I still learnt a huge amount. He shared so much photography wisdom as well as local areas that we wouldn't have found ourselves and tips on what to do with photos in post production/ who to check out for inspiration online too. TJ was great company - super fun to hang out with and his wife kindly made us sandwiches to keep us going. Would highly recommend an expedition of any kind if you're looking for something special to do in the area.

"There be whales here!" - Star Trek IV, circa 1990

All you really need to know, up front at least, is that the whale watching adventure tour offered at Tofino Resort and Marina Marine Adventure Centre is nothing short of being a SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE. You should feel free to book this now with no hesitation whatsoever. The bottom line is that we saw several grey whales and oddly enough that is not even what stands out the most in my recollection.

Instead, I am most impressed by the warm, personal, customized service that I received from the very first inquiry into availability until disembarkation from the White Raven vessel which ultimately proved to be worthy of the choppy seas that we encountered in our quest to rendez-vous with the cetaceans. Somehow, Jill knew that the perfect tour for me would be the Whale Watching Adventure and she booked me into it efficiently. Bridget somehow knew that I would fit into a Medium-sized float suit while I insisted that I would require an extra large one. Somehow, she deduced that I preferred to leave some valuables on dry-land in safekeeping with her, rather than to take them with me onto the open-water. Somehow, she knew that I had interest in the outfitter's fleet of boats and she took the time to explain to me which adventure each one of the ships was best-suited for. Bridget also insisted that I wear a float suit even though it was t-shirt weather on the dock. Suffice it to say that these folks have been doing this for a while now and it certainly shows. While I had dressed in layers and even brought several additional ones with me, I was highly unprepared for what was to come. The Adventure Centre recognized that without making me feel like the novice that I am and geared me up with everything that I could possibly have needed. Brilliant!

The other component of the trip that really stands out is the attitude and skill of our Captain, David. He, too, has been in this game for a while now, apparently a decade, and this is pretty significant given the extremely transient nature of resort communities. From the outset, David instilled confidence in each and every one of his passengers. He also demonstrated flexibility and showed a great willingness to accommodate the preferences of everyone on the boat. So rather than take an old-fashioned mass-production approach where everyone gets the same cookie-cutter experience, David achieved mass customization. He deviated significantly from the usual route to satisfy the desires of those who wanted to see marine animals other than whales. So, after we connected with the grey whales near Long Beach, we went to a completely different area to gawk at sea lions and otters and seals that had migrated all the way from California. He also explained why these animals were where they were and gave us much insight into marine ecosystems. I must say that this gentleman is not only a wonderful guide and interpreter, he also sure does know how to navigate through the tricky waters in the area. I was in awe of some of his manoeuvres (not a typo-i checked this) especially when we were in shallow water.

You know what, though? The trip is so scenic that I probably would not have been fussed even if we hadn't come across any wildlife along our route. The vantage point on the water offers unparalleled views. I caught myself looking upwards and sideways and being just as much in awe of the mountains and of the forests as I was of the whales and seals.

Too often, we only put pen-to-paper when we are angry and need the world to know about it. I think that not often enough do we give credit to those who do it right. So, in this case, where individuals within the organization are exceptional at what they do, I just knew that I had to fire up the laptop to offer some well-deserved accolades. Thank you so much Tofino Resort and Marina Adventure Centre Crew for an afternoon of a lifetime. ABSOLUTE CHAMPIONS! If you had a Season's Pass option, I would certainly be first in line to purchase one.

Tsimka has created a vibrant, integral and seamless experience for paddlers. While the beauty of Clayoquat Sound speaks for itself, it was definitely enhanced by paddling in a dugout canoe hand carved by Tmiksa's father, a Tla-o-qui-aht master carver, and hearing about the past and present of the Nuu-chah-nulth land, seas and people. We saw seals, eagles, jelly fish, and an outrageous sunset. T'ashii Paddle has a few boats so can accommodate sole travelers to larger groups. I've done day paddles with various west coast outfitters - this one is top shelf.

This operator, or his employees, have been living and polluting the backwoods of the area. Tofino Kayaking Surf obviously does not care for the area, and is not running a legitimate business.
