Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mike is a wealth of knowledge, and his assistants are the nicest, most hard working people imaginable. Give yourself a few extra hours after when the class says it will be over. Sometimes it runs long, and you won't want to leave.

Carlos and Andrea were awesome guides. They were very helpful and able to answer any questions we had about the region. The ride was great a/c and music, and everything was a half hour to an hour and a half away from each location. Hueva de agua i highly recommend to visit, Mitla was very nice but unfortunately only 2 out of the 5 sites we were only able to visit. The buffet was very delicious and El Tule was an experience you won't get to see any where else.

Jusn was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. He led our group through the Mercado Abastos and knew many of the vendors and their histories. It was delicious, fascinating and informative. (Folks who havent been to global open air markets - put aside your fears and see how much of the world shops without Costco or supermarkets. This is fresh, straight from farm) You will need walking shoes, and it is a gem of a tour that dives deep into the culturally beautiful cuisine of Oaxaca.

This was a very full day! We started off visiting Monte Alban, getting there before the crowds picked up & it got too hot. We had about 1.5 hours there. Then were driven to Teotitlán to hear about the process of creating natural textiles - from spinning the fibers to how the different color dyes are created. After this we drove to lunch at a large buffet place before heading to Hierve de aqua. We had about an hour here (which was a bit too short to do the hike to the bottom & soak in the pools). The last stop was to learn about the process of making artesian mezcal & tasting it. Our driver Irvin was fantastic! Very friendly, accommodating, & knowledgeable!

Miguel was so knowledgeable and patient. We had an incredible time exploring Monte Alban's amazing views and sites. This experience was a highlight of our Oaxaca trip and worth every penny. The explanations, going down into a tomb, and more were unforgettable.

The pools and petrified waterfalls were incredible. Loved the buffet lunch and mexcal tasting. Mitla was beautiful and historic. An incredible way to spend a day in Oaxaca taking in so many sites and food and culture.

This was a lovely day trip with short interesting stops before and after the falls and pools. Our guide Stefania from Oaxaca by locals was charming and kept up a good energy throughout the day with excellent English and Spanish language. We are not really into tours, but this one I’d recommend to anyone.

Great experience to learn about this drink that is having its moment. They take you through the entire process from the types of plants harvested, with a visit to the plantation to the processing of the harvested plants all the way through bottling.

You'll learn all the history behind how Shamans were originally the ones that made Mezcal - and how young they really were. The different classes of Mezcal so you know what you like and what to order next time and you'll sample the more pricey mezcals that may be rarer too. The food at the end was a great surprise and a highlight as well!

The team put together a great afternoon and have an awesome vibe! The right balance of information and drinking to help it all go down better!

Highly recommend it! I went as a solo traveller and met amazing people on the trip and it's easy to make friends with great guides and awesome vibes!

It was a lot of fun. The beach was nice. The boat tour was fun. I do recommend you save some room to eat at the beach because they only let you use the chairs/tables with the purchase of a meal.

What a great class! Our trip to the market was very special. We got to taste all kinds of cheeses and learn about the different chilies. The class was super fun, friendly and casual and we made an awesome meal. We would highly recommend!

Our cooking class with Chef Victor was amazing, one of the highlights of our trip! First because it felt very authentic. Victor seems like he has genuine relationships with people at the market. He is a proud Oaxacan who learned some of his best recipes from his grandma and who talks about local food and ingredients with knowledge and passion. He speaks English very well but is easy to understand in Spanish as well. He's a very chill and friendly guy, who'll happily talk about life in Mexico or give local recommendations. The food was delicious, with a great variety of dishes and lovely complimentary drinks. No advanced cooking skills required. Just one tip; come with an empty stomach, it's a lot of food. Muchas gracias Victor y el equipo de Etnofood!

A massive day of exploration with an excellent guide. Highly recommended for first time visitors to Oaxaca, especially if you don’t have access to a car as this tour gets you out into the countryside. Keep a good grip on your camera(s) if seated in the back of the very nice mini-van, as they might go flying; Mexican potholes and speedbumps are a bit more, uh, aggressive than Westerners might be used to.
