Our guide for the day brought us here instead of the more crowded windmill museums.
Interesting small museum incorporating shop, film in English and Dutch explaining the history of the windmill and a windmill itself.

Fresh air, traditional windmills (we visited spice mill, oil mill and sawmill), museums of traditional living, crafts and shops, boat cruise - all makes the visit unforgettable.
After the canals and the famous museums, this quaint, informative and leisurely trip is a fantastic and educational insight into how life in the Netherlands used to be like.

It was fascinating to watch the clog-making demonstration, and the museum was also really interesting (lots of weird clogs).
Well worth a quick visit to see the small museum and watch them make clogs using machines from the 1930's (still used to make clogs in the Netherlands today).
Zaans Museum & Verkade Experience Zaandam 9.3 km away

The clock museum was especially lovely but lots of other little fascinating museums to explore too and the large museum gave a good overview of life in the area.
We loved both the Museum and the Experience; very nicely laid out, well explained and especially the Verkade 'factory' was a great place to explore.

It's the way to go! Amsterdam is known for the Anne Frank House as well as other famous museums, but this is a must see for anyone who loves history and appreciates the past.
The house takes you on a journey through Anne's words through the house and is very well done I have visited many WW1 and WW2 museums and this was right up there, there was a respectful silence throughout the hous...

The village is truely a hidden gem (although granted may be much busier in peak season and saturdays) The main square feels like a little countryside village with a cafe and museum and a few little shops.
As it is not a Museum yo cannot use your Dutch Museum card to visit it.

We've sought out steam locomotive rail lines, automotive and train museums everywhere we travel.
Stations turned museums and even a vintage Peugeot that followed us part of the way.
