Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- David DNewcastle upon Tyne, UK230 contributionsDrove down a single track lane to find a free car park, what a result. Any doubts as to why free parking were soon dispelled when we saw this lovely horseshoe bay. Beach was soft sands and the sea cold but inviting. Lifeguards on hand and toilet facilities plus a cafe and shop at hand made for an enjoyable visit.Written 12 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mark MAuckland Central, New Zealand70 contributionsWe used this as a place to stretch our legs between Berwick on Tweed and Edinburgh, and it was well worth it. I put to location in Google maps and it tried to take me all the way to the Priory, which is a mistake. Stop and park on the proper road before it drops down towards the Priory itself. If you look like you're going over the small bridge, don't. If only for residents and a challenge to turn around.Written 20 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tw0BearsNewtongrange, UK341 contributionsNot for people with walking difficulties./wheelchair.
Steep descent to the ruins and walk up as well.
Definitely go there when wheather is nice for two main reasons: better view when not cloudy and part of path can be muddy and slippery when wet.
Beautiful views around the ruins, nice place for picnic as well.Written 27 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BibcayGateshead, UK4,295 contributionsThis war memorial is pretty good but it doesn’t really look that good. Fantastic tribute though and that’s why you should come.Written 2 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - happyduck88Nottingham, UK25 contributionsAmazing experience for our son who is 8 at the lovely Coldingham Bay. Genine is so patient and our son responded really well to her gentle and engaging ways. Genine is really thorough too. I would highly recommend this as an experience for children and adults.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
