Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Dave1796Springfield, VA590 contributionsWe visited this distillery as one of the stops on our island tour cruise excursion. It is a beautiful property, landscaped well, and nice displays. We didn’t receive any info on the Martinique AOC rhum making process. It nice, brief visit. They did provide very small sample tastings. The gift shop has all their various rhums, many of which are difficult to find in the US. - Keith CHuntingdon, UK722 contributionsWell worth seeing if in the town of Saint-Pierre. The museum is FREE and the audio tour is in English and French. Interesting information about momentous occurance in the island's historyWritten 3 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Viktorija ŠRiga, Latvia15 contributionsDefinitely worth the visit! You can see it pretty good without diving, just need your mask. See instructions how to find it on my pictures.Written 18 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tmoore48Westlake, OH585 contributionsNot sure why only this small part of the complex is mentioned in TripAdvisor - this is part of a larger prison complex, and is located next to the ruins of the theater. All are well labeled and documented with signs.
We visited as part of a cruise tour, and we were with an elderly relative who luckily elected to stay on the bus. The cobblestones are quite uneven, and were very slick after a heavy rain. The walk up to the prison is also quite steep, and the theater can only be reached via stairs.Written 18 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They were worshiping and the volcano destroyed the church and the inhabitants.
We could see stones and lots of rocks . We had to walk carefully.

Everything here is in French, except, for the very interesting and actually quite long (I want to say 1 hour long) movie that comes with English subtitles that was extremely educating - I knew just a little about the tragic events from 1902 but didn't realize the importance of those events to the rest of the world and volcanology. The cherry on the top was the part in the movie where they showed how different Caribbean islands were made in 2 different "eras" - especially since the very next day from this visit we were heading to Guadeloupe which was mentioned as well in the movie, and what in particular caught my curiosity was the Grand Terre (old era) and Basse Terre (new era) islands connected - very cool and unusual and if not for this movie I would have just thought they are two masses of land simply connected via bridge.
We don't speak French so we just walked around and glanced at some exhibits, took a small walk outside and left very satisfied - for about $12 USD total it was an interesting "rhum distilleries road trip" breaker and also a very educational stop - I think everyone visiting Martinique should undergo "this class" about Mt Pelee!
The 3d map of Martinique on the outside ground is a super cool piece! (yes you can walk on it, just clean your shoes - at least that's what we managed to translate from French to English from that sign :P)
TIP: there are school classes coming here from time to time so you may have a very peaceful experience or one that may be a bit more "active" if you follow my drift :) we were all kids at some point...!
TIP: if you are in the area check out Depaz Distillery, go back to St Pierre, have a lunch on the beachfront, driving through St Pierre isn't super fun with the traffic but it's an interesting area of the island and everyone can find something for themselves hereWritten 28 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It has been the location of a church for many years, going back to the seventeenth century with this church now having been built in the late nineteenth century and restored in the 1920's following damage caused by the 1902 volcanic eruption. The church is a little run down and we were unable to go inside, but the two towers at the front are very attractive and the place stands proud on the mountainside overlooking Saint Pierre. It' a really nice building and some fine Baroque style architecture along with a few other styles evident.Written 21 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robby G CToronto, Canada81,657 contributionsThis street was started in the 1844.
At the top they had a seminary. This is why they called this street as Rue Mont-au-Ciel.
There are stairs to go up.
The street is really attractive. It is also very historic.

When we walked in, we saw a large map of Martinique.
On the table there were all kinds of attractions.
Our question is where exactly can we see DLO on the ocean.
She helped us with what she knew.

He would never sell them.
My wife needed a hat. It wasn't expensive.
There are a lot of souvenirs here.
