Holidays come and go, but fortunately the wine is here to stay.

Thinking back (back home now) of a loverly afternoon at Cascina Sot.

After an interesting tour around vineyards and inside the premises, we had a great time tasting wine and talking wine and trade (and payment terms in Italy 🤫)

Recommend this stop to all wine lovers!

It was a great experience all in all! Great tour, good explanations and excellent wine to taste. Our Guide Silvia spoke German with us, even though we booked the tour in english. I can really recommend it, if you want to see a familiar, moderately big vinery with good wines and great prices. The little museum was very interesting and you could see some historical artefacts.

The premium Barolo experience. If you have time to schedule one wine tasting session in Piemonte, this is where you need to go.
Amazing scenery, very cool facilities and friendly and helpful staff.
Make sure to leave some space in your suitcase for the journey home, the wines are excellent.

A visit we have made several times, a winery that tries to combine tradition with development of new wines and new methods. Add to that a kind and welcoming reception and you have a wonderful visit.

We has our wedding ceremony and party at La torricelli, and it was such a perfect day. Everything was set up outside and the weather was perfect, which made for brilliant views of the alps and surrounding vineyards. The staff was very serviceminded and accommodating. We used the rustic rooms to get ready, but did not sleep there. The food was great, but we had a special menu set up for the wedding, we also had the wine that they produce at La Torricella for the dinner, which we really liked and it complemented the food nicely. I would absolutely recommend staying here or using the location for a celebration.

We were surprised to find out that this church only dates back to the early part of the 20th century. Construction began in 1909 and finished in 1912.

The church sits impressively on the top of a hill with the main access to the front portals being via wide twin flights of stairs either side of, what appears to be an entrance to an area underneath the church. There is a driveway at the top of these stairs separating them from the main church.

The very ornate facade of the church is split into three vertical stages with three portals which match the three interior naves. The central stage of the facade is wider than the two lateral stages and has a niche above the portal which holds a statue of the Madonna della Neve. There are very ornate arched and embedded column architraves on each of the three portals and each has a carved relief tympanum. There is a large Gothic style window in each of the lateral stages whilst there is a gabled roof with columns supporting the cornices and entablature. On the left hand side of the church as you face it is an impressive 54 metre high bell tower.

The interior of the church is in the style of a Latin cross with three naves, a transept, four side chapels along each wall and a presbytery. The naves are separated by bicolour marble columns topped with arches whilst the cross vaulted ceilings are painted a rich blue (which reminded me of the Cathedral in Alba).

The interior side chapels, baptistry and high altar are a mass of stucco and white Carrara and yellow Siena marble with a number of wooden statues and lovely paintings. The transept also has some beautiful frescoes as well as lovely stained glass windows.

We were lucky to visit as a small group were practicing for a wedding that was to be held later that day. The acoustics were excellent.

    Well worth a visit.

If you are in Monforte and need to buy some wine, I highly recommend this store!

They have a great variety of wines and will help you choose if you are not sure. Matteo was so nice and helpful, he explained a lot of things about wines, vineyards, winemakers. There's a map of the vineyards in the store so he also showed us where the vineyards are located. It was soo interesting! We ended up wine tasting and talking, he recommended a couple of restaurants in that area. Great service!

We bought some Barolo, fantastic hazelnut cream, and olive oil made by their family in Tuscany. You can taste a lot of things and when you do, you just won't leave without buying it.

Unforgettable experience, thank you so much!

Our dear friend took us to the vineyard/Winery - his family connection was invaluable, because finding Rocca Giovanni would have been a challenge! During our visit, they were constructing their new tasting room and Winery storage/production space, with living space up top for family, and a cut of the soil (see photos) they are growing in. When complete, the tasting room will have a true Italian pizza oven. We tasted in a comfortable room among articles and awards, and a huge bowl of nocciolo (hazelnuts) grown on the property (also available for purchase). We toured the facility - even though they were in the middle of bottling. An excellent operation, with an incredible view and very highly-rated and long-aging Barolo. We looked up availability in the US to make our purchase when we returned home from the trip. Excellent, followed by an aperitif in Monforte and a refreshing hike to the top of the town!!!

    Historical and modern winery .

it is my first time went to Barolo, it is a such beautiful area, everywhere is grapes plant and winery, and Domenico Clerico is the second winery we have been.

again we Strated with the tour that the niece show us around and explain us the history and the winery background. By the way , this is a family run winery.

And it is interesting to go visit different winery in same area, you can say same same but different , all the founder story is so unique , and sometimes it is funny story also.

after the tour we went back out the winery building ground floor and tried to admired the amazing green and mountain view, and realised they have a swimming pool at the winery , that is super cool.
also even though it Is a historical winery , but their building is super cool and modern , literally different from all other winery I had been, it is super refreshing.

we enjoyed the wine tasting at their all window " guest room" , so you can enjoy the amazing view while sipping the wine.

overall it is a very nice and lovely experience. people is nice there too.
surely I wanted to go back to visit them again
