Chaweng is slowly reopening. Sad to see businesses closed down but some new ones opening too. The area has been badly affected by covid and will take time to recover. Still get a warm welcome and smiling faces though.

We had such a great experience at the Koh Samui Elephant Sanctuary! Everyone who loves animals (specifically Elephants) should book this tour to support ethical animal tourism. At Koh Samui Elephant Sanctuary they care and treat the animals really well. It was fun to learn about the different elephants of the Sanctuary and feed them bananas and “Elephant Sushi”.
Unfortunately due to Covid they had only very few to none people coming to visit the sanctuary and therefore had to cut back on the elephant carers due to budget reasons.
If you want to see elephants behaving as naturally as possible please support sanctuaries like this one and help to improve the lives of Thai elephants.

Its basically one long single lane road with shops and restaurants on both sides, with those on the beach side usually offering access to the beach. There is quite a variety of types of food but seafood dominates. Also a few massage parlors and bars. Further up/ along is a place where you can sit on bean bag type seats and get drinks etc. on the beach.

Their pool parties are so much fun! Totally worth the 1000 Baht / person for the day bed rental. Attractions are tons of fun, and the vibe/atmosphere is great!

This was a much larger and well laid out mall than i had expected. There are some stalls outside selling souvenirs, street food and drinks, and a good sized food hall inside, although when we visited it was a bit empty and i think could do with more visitors to give it more of a buzz. Lots of shops to browse round and definitely worth a trip out on a cloudy day for a few hours

We stopped here to visit on our way to another part of the island and it was worthwhile. The temple is impressive and a wonderful reflection of the local peoples faith. There are a number of cafes around the temple that offer authentic Thai food at very cheap prices. We had a great experience.

A little off the beaten path this is definitely a market for the locals. There is a variety of vegetables and meat for sale and the usual sarongs and knock off items close by.
The food is authentic Thai- I usually try to find places like this to eat as you are supporting the locals and you will get a great meal for 1/3 to 1/2 the price you’d pay at your resort where the money is likely going to a foreign investor.

Seatran are one of two ferry companies running from Koh Samui to outer islands. Reasonable service albeit very busy (Christmas time) so hard to find somewhere to sit and quite noisy especially outside. We went to Koh Toa which is 2 hours by ferry, it was £15 pp. Small shop on boar for drinks and bagged snacks. Please note - you will be loading and unloading your own cases which can be tricky especially as people don't like to queue in Thailand.

The calm waters at Chong Mon beach is different to Chewang beach you can walk out for ages and paddle great for kids no under current like Chewang which can be dangerous so watch out.
Chong Mon beach has lots of 5 star hotels for lunch and pool days pay 1500 baht and spend the day in each one you can spend the 1500 on your lunch drinks it’s great value and a perfect way to enjoy the luxury side of the island without staying in the five star hotels.
Also lots of sun beds along the beach which again if you buy drinks at the place they are sitting you can stay all day for free. Sunset is pretty here.

Entering the museum we saw large human size paintings on the walls. The instructions were to take aphoto of these pictures.
When we looked on the photos they were to our amazement three dimensional. This opened a long time of fun. We stood by the paintings, took photos and there we appeared riding on horses, surfing in the waves visiting the jungles and even landing on the moon. Try and enjoy.

Close to the main road at Bangrak Beach. Temples well kept. Huge statues situated on a small pond. Combine a visit with a walk to the Big Buddha

David is a very welcoming and skillful tailor! He is attentive, gives professional recommendations and makes sure you are happy with the products. I ordered two skirts and two blouses, which were ready in less than 7 days.
The fit is perfect, the quality fabrics are satisfying and the price is more than appropriate.
    I will definitely order again!

If you ever visit Koh Samui you will not be disappointed in making a booking to see the herd of rescued Elephants at Samui Elephant Sanctuary.

Communication on transfers was very easy and when arriving there were treated by friendly staff.

The afternoon (or morning) starts with a helpful video on how to interact with these gentle giants and you feed the first family group and make rice balls for some of the more elderly elephants.

After feeding these elephants you take a stroll with a guide through their various paddocks meeting and interacting with many other elephants along the way, passing mud baths and other pools for the herds to cool off in.

The day finishes back at the main paddock where I was able to witness a 80kg “cake” of fruit I ordered to be eaten by baby Haven, his mother and another elephant. After this there are drinks and dessert to enjoy before going back to your hotel.

Could not fault the day, and thank you Sunny for being such a great guide.

Really great day. Jon and the crew were fantastic from ensuring everyone had a full glass to managing the trip for the weather conditions.
Needless to say, the lunch location was amazing.
Definitely will book for our next gathering

Highly recommended tailor in Chaweng. They made 7 very nice shirts for me. The tailor was nice and professional and finished the shirts earlier than promised. I will definetely come back here the next time I come to Koh Samui.
