What travellers are saying
- JaywoospainJavea, Spain33 contributionsWhilst visiting family down south, we took our son to Axe Valley Wildlife Park. Wow, what a day out!
The park is big and spacious and has animals of all types which looked happy and healthy. We only planned to stay for an hour but ended up there for four, and as the cafe had vegan and healthy options, we had lunch too. Plus ice cream of course!
The highlight for us was seeing the well-hidden Australian Squirrel run through the trees. They could speed through the course of tubes and we could have watched them for hours.
Well done, how wildlife parks should be.Written 24 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Eleanor GDorset, UK66 contributionsWe had the most amazing time at Little Orchard Alpacas. The Alpacas were brilliant and we really enjoyed ourselves. Victoria was amazing and showed us round her amazing farm whilst we walked the Alpacas. We then had a beautiful cream tea in the orchard.Written 29 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Robert BMississauga, Canada48 contributionsA wonderful cottage winery in the countryside with a wide variety of products. Flavoured gins, Rums, locally made wines (the Chardonnay, Rose, and Pinot Noir are very good). Our host Steve was excellent, fun and knowledgeable - we had a great tasting.
If you are looking for gifts to take home they have a wide selection. When in the Lyme Regis area, this is a wonderful outing.

Lovely staff. There is more to Axminster than their famous carpets. Well worth a detourWritten 15 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SamanthaLettenColyton, UK320 contributionsI often visit this pool with my friends and our children. I recommend it to anyone with a baby as the hydrotherapy pool is lovely. Although it is small I have never found it to be too busy.
There is parking on site. The changing rooms are in the main pool area, they also have separate male and female ones linked directly to the hydro pool. As always with swimming pool changing rooms they probably could be cleaner, though this isn’t helped by people walking around in dirty shoes or pushing their prams in (which I have learnt and no longer do).
The staff are very attentive and friendly.Written 20 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - John MAxminster, UK258 contributionsThere are 2 parts to the reserve, each side of the road. Both equally worth the walk. Lots of different paths. Need stout shoes or boots, can be muddy. Worth a visit.Written 24 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ChloeWeymouth, UK12 contributionsWow!! The highlight of our trip to Devon. We had the best time exploring the vineyards and wine tasting. Rob is an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. We loved the relaxed feel and thoroughly enjoyed learning about all the wines. The tasting was held in the most beautiful venue and we were lucky enough to buy some of the local wine. We would recommended this experience to any one and cannot wait to return in the summer. It was so refreshing hearing about a local business and the whole afternoon had a real personal touch! Thank you so much!Written 24 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Beatrice HExeter, UK2,585 contributionsWe always pop in here for unusual items and collectables. Nice staff and easy to browse. Found a treasure today!! Prices reasonable so worth a visit.Written 20 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- HeidiUnited Kingdom6 contributionsWe both enjoyed a very lovely breakfast, sausages and bacon are extremely high quality and very tasty. all staff are very friendly and welcoming. Wasn’t keen on the dog wondering around and resting his head on my knees as I was eating (but that’s because I have allergies) I did ask the staff if they could keep him away from me the dog didn’t really want to listen. Looking forward to coming back very soonWritten 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tanya GBirmingham, UK28 contributionsWe attended the Saturday feast and were delighted. Staff lovely, food excellent; even though two of us were vegan, they readily- and deliciously- accommodated our needs. The local wine was heaven, the decor is gorgeous and we left replete and very happy!Written 6 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ian L49 contributionsI did the small lathe engineering course with Bob Rolph, and it truly was a great couple of days. I had some (very limited) experience with a lathe, and wanted some more info about lathe safety. It was a really good course! Very informative. The other courses looked great too and when all together, wood working and metal work, we all got on. Hat's off to Axminster... my only gripe, is that it's not local to me, so I had to stay over. Worth every penny though.Written 16 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JTPMumAxminster, UK15 contributionsA great no frills pub that serves excellent beer. Really warm welcome from the staff who treat you like you are a ‘regular’ which is really niceWritten 2 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kerry-Lee CNewquay, UK18 contributionsNice traditional book shop. Well stocked with a friendly and very knowledgeable gentleman behind the counter. It was nice to have someone equally as enthusiastic about books serving, you won't get that in your highstreet stores! Shop local 😀Written 30 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ColboySomersetUKCastle Cary, UK172 contributionsWe came across this factory unexpectedly but decided to stop for a coffee. Their signature coffee, Black Bear Blend, was in the espresso machine and I must say my Americano with milk was very tasty and together with a slice of cherry and pecan cake made a perfect refreshment stop. Outside seating was available.
We purchased a 200gm bag of Black Bear Beans to use at home, freshly roasted and very reasonably priced. Other freshly roasted coffees were available.
Will definitely return when in the area.Written 17 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Gem3 contributionsVery friendly shop, well stocked and very family friendly. Leave you to browse but there is always someone to help. Love it and we need more of these types of shops in Axminster.Written 17 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
