Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Joanna ZEvesham, UK78 contributionsIt’s worth to visit this small chateau. It’s in the centre of Nérac. You can visit part of the chateau only and the whole trip takes about 40 minutes. There are 7 rooms and in each room you can find drawers with smells. You can discover about 20 different scents- all reproduce smells from XVI th century. There are some smells like Neroli oil, musk, rosemary, green cardamom, cloves ,grilled meat and some smells of ,very often not very pleasant like horse sweat, foul odours, armour maintenance. Some drawers contain smells of XVI th century perfumes. In the kitchen room you can see sample of food and sample of banquet menu.

They are a classic Roman example of how far the Romans traveled and what they built. The bridge makes for beautiful pictures. The mill only can be visited by appointment. There are parks and benches nearby for a picnic or just to relax.Written 6 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MichaelandSandieLot-et-Garonne, France45 contributionsChurch built in the eighteenth century in neo-classical style.
The bell towers, murals and remarkable stained glass windows of Joseph Villiet were made in the nineteenth century. The church has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1988. toilets and lockers. Whole family had loads of fun and enjoyed their day. 3 slides which are all good and a lazy river. The snack bar choice is limited but still very nice food. Only downside is the floor got extremely hot to walk on but that can’t be helped. Definitely recommend.Written 8 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great selection of local products. Lots of vegetables, fruits, cheese, olives, fish, seafood, meat ,sausages and terrines. You can also find locally produced wines and oil of olive. Beautiful smell of rotisserie chicken ,pork, paella,Asian food, fresh bread.
Lot of clothes,bags,etc.
Market is located at the town centre. Nearby you can find some restaurants, bars, shops.
Place worth to visit if you stay in the area and enjoy local markets.Written 23 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Boutique winery offering a great range of rose, red, floc and Armagnac all of which is grown and produced on their property. - Casa2Morocco13 contributionsWe went here based on recommendations. There were two people making the chocolates while we were there. We were able to sample some chocolate and then buy what we wanted. They even had a diabetic section of chocolates. Everyone that we tasted was excellent. I would recommend a visit.Written 3 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Joni FCharras, France18 contributionsA super slow boat ride up the canal/river which runs through Nerac. You go through a lock - lots of fun and you see kingfishers on overhanging branches of the trees. There's a talk pointing out interesting features and snippets of myth/history. There's now a little cafe where you can wait and other restaurants along the bank next to the tiny harbour. Worth booking in advance especially on hot days.Written 10 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Peter GMoissac, France55 contributionsThis train runs throughout the Summer but check your days before you go. A return trip takes about two hours and there is a commentary on the outgoing journey. Not a lot to do at the far end unless you take the stopover which will give you time to go into Mézin, a simple walk.
Keen walkers might consider the marked footpath back to Nérac (19km)
Don't expecting first class carriages. This is a heritage railway running on a shoestring and would benefit from a lot of money being spent. Having said that it's fun.Written 26 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
