Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took a taxi (around 15K-20K) from the Lotte. It’s much faster than to take the bus and you will get the same traffic jam the last 2-4 kms. I was surprised by the crowd even in the middle of the week. I guess it’s better to avoid the week-end and it should be even worse during school holidays. But I understand why it’s so popular : the place is BEAUTIFUL and everything is organized to welcome the most people as possible.
The first thing to do is to buy the cable car tickets (15K per person), as they sell really fast and you probably will have to wait an hour until your « boarding time ». But it’s worth the money and the wait. Up there you have to walk up on stairs and on an uneven path, so make sure to wear hiking shoes.
We did another hike, to Biseondae rocks. It’s an easy walk, but more comfortable with hiking shoes. It takes 1.5-2 hours back and forth. Be aware to take enough water, as outside the recreational area next to the entrance gate (where you have a lot of shops, coffee shops and restaurants), there is no place to buy a bottle of water.
I would have liked to stay longer or to come back the next days. There are so many other hikes to do. I guess you can easily spend a whole week there. And with autumn leaves starting to turn red and yellow, it was truly beautiful and especially peaceful (most people tend to stay around the recreational area).
I think Sokcho area is the place to stay if you feel exhausted by the bustling city life of Seoul : no shopping, just eating, waking and chilling.

We stayed at Delpino Sono Moon that faces the Ulsanbawi Rocks.

It was winter, and snowstorms were abound. So no hikes allowed during this period. Nonetheless, the view from the hotel was already breathtaking. The lines of trees along the slopes remind me of bristles on the back of a wild boar.

A very fun & beautiful ride! Kids & adults friendly! The theme tunnels was the highlight, especially the last one before the midpoint rest. The Romance train back was scenic, perfect for the kids

This is a really nice rock formation at one end of the large valley for Seoraksan. The cable car ride up was breathtaking, as well as the views from the viewing area and the 'Fortress'. There is no actual fortress and is wholly naturally formed, but it is worth the 5-10 minutes extra walk from the top of the cable car to view. Bring sturdy shoes for this, as the rock surface can be smooth and steep.

We had a good time skiing here. The slopes are very intermediate and the lines can be long on the weekends when we went. If you’re not skiing their are very minimal options to sit or find a lounge with Wi-Fi unless you want to pay a lot of money. The staff was nice in the ski equipment and return process went smoothly. Only a couple of the slopes were open in December hopefully they get the other half open in January and February. For Korea skiing this is t bad and the prices are reasonable even if the slopes aren’t the most challenging.

On the hike you pass super clear water , you get company from the chipmunks if you have some food to spare, the view at the top is really nice and worth the climb. The last part is steps but still worthwhile going up

The view is stunning once you get to the top!
If you are good in walking and wear proper shoes it won't be a real problem to ascend. Of course it is exhausting cause the last 600m are just climbing and doing stairs but if you don't mind a little challenge, then do it! The view is absolutely stunning and it was not crowded cause most people stop and return at bisondae. The cave is small but welcoming cause of the kind monk and there is fresh water. But the highlight of this hike really is the panorama you'll get to see :)
I did ulsanbawi at the same day but the hike to geumganggul was even more charming!
