Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Kylie OMosgiel, New Zealand163 contributionsThis was the highlight of our Sunshine Coast holiday! Lovely walk (lots of stairs but fine if you are fit and healthy). The rock pool was incredible! We were fortunate the waterfall was flowing and the water was lovely for a swim. The scenery can’t be captured by photo, you must lie in the rock pool and take it in! We even had a goanna grace us with their presence to top the day off. I didn’t want to leave and will absolutely go again next time we are in Australia.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DavidGeraldine, New Zealand4 contributionsNice small town away from the city. Well worth a drive to.
Items in shops cheaper than the same items in the city.

It was lush & secluded and not many people were around. For me, the tall falls, swimming hole at the base & suspension bridge were the highlights. The walk forms part of the Sunshine Coast Great Walk but you can do this as a separate hike. We did the Southern Approach (Northern approach is also an option) which is accessed via Flaxton (turn into Flaxton Mill Road & follow for 1.5km and entrance is opposite Old Mill Lane). Wildlife was on full display - We saw a big blue tongue lizard, butterflies, blue dragonflies & heard lots of interesting bird calls. The start of the walk is open forest on an old access road and as you head down to the falls the track narrows as you enter tropical rainforest. The walk is a moderate 7.6km return with quite a bit of uphill on the way back, though it is not too steep. We enjoyed a rejuvenating swim at the base of the falls, which was gushing with water after the recent SEQ weather event, and enjoyed walking over the suspension bridge crossing Baxter Creek. The plantlife was amazing too. This is a little piece of paradise in the Sunshine Coast. We enjoyed breakfast at the The Barn cafe in Flaxton on the way in.Written 5 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ThePlainStaplesBrisbane, Australia2 contributionsAnne's pottery workshop was a fantastic experience for our family, especially our young children who hadn't had the opportunity to play and make something with proper clay before. We all had a great time, and the plates that we made with Anne have come out beautifully. Thank you Anne!Written 22 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Phillip8789Terrigal, Australia792 contributionsA real gem of a place to “discover” whilst driving around the hinterland area between Maleny and Montville.
Driving to the Dam area is not difficult and when arriving there are bbq’s, covered eating areas and a few tracks to walk.
Only non-powered craft are allowed on the dam.
Also there is the Secrets Dining on the Deck restaurant and accommodation chalets, which at the time we were there was very busy.
Really enjoyed this deviation from our intended route.Written 18 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a Wednesday and a quiet day. Service was welcoming and although small the menu was good enough.
We started with a shared cheese platter. For $40 it was very overpriced. We knew it would be just three cheese but they were minute pieces with a couple of tiny strands of figs, a few slices of apple and some wafers.
The rack of lamb was delicious and plentiful; the fish was very tasty and beautifully cooked; the burgers okay.
We finished with the chocolate board to share. $320 for four people was quite hefty. - Dave40671 contributionThe Tina Cooper Gallery is unique, the setting is without parallel, floating over Lake Baroon. Murano has many galleries but none compare to this as you can embrace the environment and refocus more closely on a huge range of exquisite pieces of such a wide variety of themes. The Australian Indigenous inspiration runs through many items, the presentation is measured and exciting. Don’t expect to leave empty handed.Written 8 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
