Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Joelyn CUnited Kingdom96 contributionsVery pretty beach if in the area. It wasn’t very busy when we visited so plenty of car parking, some free at the side of the road, some payable in a car park or blue bays literally 2 min walk to the beach. Touristy with a shop or two of usual beach products. A couple of nice beach bar / lidos with beds and umbrellas to hire although free space on the beach if needed. Beach itself isn’t very wide and is all very small pebbles so beach shoes required and definitely no options of sand castles. The sea is crystal clear (disappointingly bits of litter could be spotted but not unusual these days ). Snorkelling was ok, typical fish in abundance.
We were at the right hand side of the bay so maybe more amenities to the left nearer the village.Written 2 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tim TCamberley, UK11 contributionsFree 1/2 hour guided tours on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Locked at other times. Not well publicised but information from the Tourist Information office a few streets away.
The cave is illumined and you will be given a hard hat to wear. You will need it.
Entry is down some steep wooden steps from a doorway in the cliff face.
Some flowstone and small stalactites in several interconnecting chambers.
The volunteer guide makes it interesting though, explaining the history of the cave and his part in it.
This is not for everyone. It is a bit of a scramble inside so not suitable for the less active.Written 23 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nunzio7450Boston, MA8 contributionsNarrow roads to get to the top but worth it. Spectacular view. We hiked up (easy hike) to the ruins and walked around and took some photographs.Written 22 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Professore2012Rhode Island18 contributionsIf you are interested in classical history and archaeology then you will find the posters and artifacts here worth visiting. It's a little difficult to find -- you have to enter through the playground on Via Natoli Gatto, next to the Comune. Check in with the tourist information office on Via Mazzini about hours and visiting, since it seems to be irregular. A staff member of the Comune accompanied me and gave me a personal tour.
The collection is in just one room and includes items from the site of Gioiosa Guardia. The earliest artifacts include bronze and iron age items. There is also a collection of pottery, some coins, and other every day objects from the Greek period. Two large pistoi from the Greek era and an anchor sit in the middle of the space. The exhibit ends with some funerary items from the fourth century BC. The historical posters are professionally done, informative, and very thorough.Written 27 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
