Having a big interest in British Classic cars we wondered why we had not heard about this museum before as the advertising blub said 450 cars on show. Well we wouldn't disagree about the number of cars on view but most of them were just wrecks stacked one on top of the other and crammed in a big shed and... More

This is not what we expected. From the outside it looks like any other Kiwi tin shed, albeit a large kiwi fruit pack house. From the outside is a rusting old jag and a few road signage, possibly not that interesting. The entrance is simple, hand made signage, again possibly not that inviting but behold..........Step in side pay your $10... More

A very large assortment of British cars, jam packed into rather stifling sheds, a fabulous collection for those who wish to go down memory lane. The whole place smells like the interior of an old car. Quite a few rare gems hiding there too. Jensen Healy and many, many Morris. Let's hope someday that someone will put the time and... More

Packed full, (too full) of classic and vintage cars, so many in fact, that in many places you can't actually get anywhere near the cars. It remains an interesting collection. It does seem a shame to me to have so many of the same type of vehicle, left in some cases in poor condition, when there are so many enthusiasts... More

As the sole owner of this extraordinary collection, Ian Hope's key objective is to ensure these vehicles survive so that they can be restored at some point in the future - essentially to ensure they dont fall by the wayside as so many already have. Sorry if you didnt like to see those that are in greater need of some... More

What a blast from the past All the cars seen around as a kid in the 70s and 80s plus older! Great to see all these gems under a roof, not rusting away in a yard somewhere. No wonder the old beasts are not available for sale, there are all here saving them from my teenager smashing them in accidents.... More

If you love British cars, mostly very old, some more recent, then this collection is for you. My husband saw cars just like he remembered his father owned. And ones just he owned. We had to wipe the drool off his face when he left.

An interesting diversion after the disappointment of not be able to visit Cape Kidnappers. This is an interesting place in which some 450 cars dating between 1931 and the early millenium, with an emphasis on the cars of 1950 to 1980 that were most common on NZ roads before the influx of Jap imports from the late 1980s. An unusually rainy day in Hawkes Bay had us looking for places to visit. A bit of googling showed us some options one of which was The British Car Museum. We drove there, parked, went to the door and pressed the button which sounded a very loud classic old car horn which alerted The Boss. He came flying to the... More

Thank you Lynne for your review and for sharing your ideas about how you would take Ian Hope's collection forward. Of course your remarks make uncomfortable reading, but thats in the nature of feedback; Ian does take note of people's criticisms, just as willingly as he accepts praise. Firstly, if you (or anyone else) is prepared to give up some... More
