You don’t need tickets unless you want to go on a tour of Concorde or the other static aircraft on display you just pay for the parking

Yes the café is very close to the runway, it's better outside the café. We spent about 3 hours there but we did the Nimrod and Concorde tour which took about 2 hours. Well worth a visit.
