If you're looking for a beach that's quiet but not totally secluded, Cupecoy is a good choice. Its white sands are backed by low sandstone cliffs that have been eroded in such a way that they provide a run of small semiprivate coves.

Cupecoy is composed of different beach coves some larger than others. Clothing is optional. To the right when you entrance is the beach where mostly straight people gather. To the left is more gay. But everyone is welcome to any cove and the people straight...More

It looked like a lovely beach but enjoyed by nude sun bathers and unsavory behavior--one side is a gay gathering place. We did not feel unsafe as much as unwelcome to sunbathe here being clothed. There are no beach restaurants.

Great Beach until massive spectacular waves came thru second week of January and took two of the beaches away. First time I have ever seen surfers there. It will rebuild over time but for now there is not much beach to enjoy. Good place to...More

We found this beach quite by accident driving around the island but ended up having a great afternoon. Chairs available but we just used our towels as we were in the water much of the time. Gorgeous scenery, with the cliffs. Lots of full nudity,...More

When I arrived at the beach at noon, no one was there and there was no beach anymore after the bad wether there was before my visit!

Cupecoy was easy to found after all. Like many people pointed out so far: start with the Maho, proceed to Mullet Bay, follow the road through the golf terrain, follow the road further inside “the village”, and immediately after the “Ocean beach club” turn left....More

Nice beach, not very big and have to walk down a small cliff to get to it. Be careful with young children because it is bathing suit optional as my wife and 3 daughters found out. No beach bar so if you need lunch you...More

Much nicer beach located near Royal Islander/Maho Beach area. Worth going but hard to go daily with kids. I would recommend going at least one or two days while on the island.

We stopped for a quick view. There was one set of steps leading down to a tiny beach area with one vendor waiting for people. Worth a quick stop, but probably wouldn't spend a day there.

Convenient for those nearby. Not much to write about - or write home about. Sometimes the strong tide leaves very little beach so you lie on rocks to sunbathe. Nudity here is a option so it tends to attract swingers and people who enjoy seeing...More

We used to go to Cupecoy every year back in the early to mid 80's. Was great; one can't imagine how much the island has changed since then. We now stay on French side near Orient Beach, but intend to be there for the full month of June and intend to go back to our old hangout a couple of times. There used to be steps on the eastern side of the beach; are they still there, or do we need to walk down to the far end to reach the beach? As a point of history the west side of the beach was very nude-oriented back then; no big issue in any event!

There are still steps to all parts of this beach but the sand is variable since the hurricane in the early 90's. It tends to move up and down the beach quite dramatically. It is still very much worth a visit. Dany is still... More

The beach is on the Dutch side but only a few hundred yards to the French side. The best things about St. Maarten are the beaches shopping (duty free) the butterfly farm and Lotterie Farm with a zip line. A car is most... More

Hi- we are traveling there to Villa Mumbai in March with 3 of our kids. We loved Grand Cayman but wanted to try something different...now I am really worried about the "tags" linked to our area, including nude beaches and the high degree of GLBT visitors...what can you tell me?

The island is not particularly gay but there are two official nude beaches only and if you are so sheltered that you can not deal with this just don't go to them or adjust your mindset. Being open minded is a good thing in... More
