Our whole experience was extraordinary. They pick up us at the main plaza, at 19:15, and after a 20 minutes cross-country driving we arrive at the observatory, just at the top of the hill. We were 6 passengers, and the driver was very careful and...More
By general consensus from online reviews and local Vicuna innkeeper recommendations, this is the best astronomy tour in the Valle de Elqui area, with small tours, great gear and attentive expert hosts. However, it pays to know that coordinating with them can be a little...More

Thanks indeed for your nice and encouraging words, and thanks also for highlighting that we need a minimum of 24 hours delay to guarantee booking and meeting instructions, because we want to make sure that everything will run on schedule: in case of contacting us...More
An incredible star gazing experience. I didn't really know what to expect but just to stare up at the clear night sky and see the milky way for the first 10mins or so was amazing enough. The two friendly and knowledge astronomers provided plenty of...More

...and we appreciated your enthusiasm too... Just to avoid excessive expectations from our next guests, on that night there was a last-minute cancellation, so the group reduced to 3 people only, but the regular attendance is of 8 to 10 people.
We compared this with other observatories and this won. The groups are small, less than 8 and ours was only 5. There is a 45 minute drive but the darkness is amazing. The time looking at the stars through the telescope was high due to...More

Thanks indeed for your nice words that help us to go on with this... and thanks also for your patience with the road, at this moment it is under heavy works and requires to drive slow, but after that we should get back the usual...More
First, the good, the time spent viewing through the telescope is spectacular. We were very close to a full moon, so we were limited in seeing certain things, but on the flip side we got a stunning view of the moon. The astronomer was friendly,...More

You explained it well, we contacted the hotel to leave a message for a couple of guests confirming that they can come with their own car (as previously accorded with them) but they didn't show up at the hotel and so never get the message,...More
Took a group of 4 up to the Observatorio.
The road trip up is an experience
The explanations of the French astronomer were superbe ... adapted to the knowledge of each visitor.
The telescope is fun to watch and look through (!).

I can recommend this experience, highly. The guides were knowledgeable and could share that knowledge in several languages. Due to weather issues my tour had to be moved but it was easy handling without any fuss.
Not cheap, but definitely worth every pesos!
Small group, great telescope, really competent (Astro physician) and friendly guide. We looked at so many impressive things like twin stars, supernovas, other galaxies, plansts with their moons, nebulas..and so on. He told many interesting facts and was...More
