The walled town complex has many ruined buildings of Roman period and the city walls are preserved to several stories high. There is a Roman bath house, tomb and archeological museum which can be entered on a joint ticket of 15 Lev, saving some money....More

We travelled up to Hisarya with low expectations, what greeted us was amazing. Large sections of the original wall and gates remain standing, a testament to Roman Building. They were the walls around the ancient city of Diocletianopolis and there are also the remains of...More

The whole town of Hissarya is spectacular! The Roman ruins are everywhere. The tomb wasn't open even during opening times, so that was disappointing.

There are the biggest remains of Roman ruins (Roman walls, amfitheater, spa and thomb), I have ever seen in Bulgaria. Everything is free of charge and the view on majesty of the ruins/walls is simply breathtaking.

The best preserved Roman town walls in Bulgaria and probably the Balkans. The tomb is unique as it is underground and you climb down a narrow passage to reach it. There is no similar Roman or Thracian tomb that I know of.

Of course if you visit this place because of the mineral water and the Spa you will be around for out door walking. You can imagine the ancient times while watching this walls.

I haven't been in Hissarya since I was a kid and I have forgotten how impressive the remains of the Roman wall were! Definitely something worth visiting and spending a few days there!

It is the most remarkable sightseeing of the town, part of it has been restored in the recent years.

The Roman ruins are a breathtaking sight to behold. Combined with the history of Bulgaria, it makes an emotional journey of frustration, bewilderment and wonder. It’s a special place with potential to become a top tourist destination. Thank you Hisarya for having us!
