Hard to find but well worth it!
Oct. 2019 • Couples
Hired a car so we had to find it ourselves which was a bit tricky but well worth it! Clams are inside the roped and buoyed area about 75 metres from the beach. $10 tala to pay to the village. Doesn't get very deep so all levels should be able to swim out in beautiful clear warm water. A must do

Must See Destination

Absolutely exciting and brilliant. Remember to go IN to the roped off area, that’s where the amazing clams, fish and coral are!

Who knew Clams were so beautiful
Sep. 2019
200 m swim from the beach are these amazing animals there for all to see. The colors were just incredible. Pretty easy swim for inexperienced and safety rope out there for anyone who needs a break.

Swim around and check out the reef as well, some amazing fish to see as well.

I would suggest goiing on the incoming tide or at high tide.

Clams galore
Sep. 2019
Not many places in the world you would see so many clams so easy. If you are coming to Lefaga Bay from the west, look out for the 'Return to Paradise' sign and on the left is that road, don't take it. Also do not take the next one which shows Gagaifoolevao, it is the next to the left you want that shows Savaia/Tafagamanu. At the end of that road (has no seal in places and lots of bumpy/pothole parts) you come to a blue coloured fale at the T junction with ladies sitting in there with equipment. Park up alongside there or over in the large car park opposite where there is a large blue building- The Womens Centre- this is where you can change/use toilet. Pay the ladies about 10 tala each person first. They will give you good directions how to find the clams. Go down the steps in front of them, out to the roped buoys, under the rope for about another 5-8m and all along there are many clams. I only saw one dead one. Some are huge, most are very colourful (blues and greens) and you can see their large breathing holes and see them breathing. Some are baby ones and others are the biggest I have ever seen, eg 1m across. It was completely calm even though further along the coast it was rough. Easy to walk out when we went. Only other fish we saw was at the beginning around the step area. Well worth a visit.

Must see
Sep. 2019 • Couples
One thing to see in Samoa is the giant clams. Amazing the size of them. It’s a small walk or snorkel out to them. Had to believe they grow up to that size.

Fabulous experience
Aug. 2019
The Giant Clam reserve is an outstanding experience, not only for the impressive size of those clams, but also their utter beauty, colors and patterns. We came in a rental car, and were advised where to go by the very helpful girl who collected the entrance fee. Highly recommended!

Giant clams near the shore!
Aug. 2019 • Couples
The clams are gigantic and they're alive. Nice fish and some coral as well. We were fortunate enough to see a turtle too! The water isnt deep and there's no waves or current, a very safe place to snorkel. Definitely recommended. We drove past it initially as there was no signage - it's at a junction and there are buoys in the water marking where the clams are. There's a toilet and shower too.

Unbelievable!

From Apia it was about 30 minutes by taxi (70 Tala each way) and the taxi driver was happy to wait about an hour, for a small fee.
You pay the local village (10 Tala) to swim out to the sanctuary. You can hire goggles snorkels and flippers from them as well (15 Tala).
The clans are huge and there are lots of them. This is a must see.
Easy swimming and not to far. Shallow water and if you are lucky a turtle or two might swim past. My son spent 10 minutes swimming with one.
Highly highly recommend.

Soooo worthwhile
Aug. 2019
$10 Tala per person. We did this TWICE and would’ve done it again, loads of marine life, plenty of new coral, clams are “out of this world” and we were honoured to experience a turtle playing around
