It was the first time we visited this amazing hotel. We came here at 4 a.m. and weren't expeting to get a room until 12 a.m., but luckily we got one and were able to sleep after a long flight.
I would also like to talk about food here. It is a large choice of delicious dishes on every taste.
Everyone can find something on his taste.
Now about animation.
Animation is excellent here. Everything starts from 10 a.m., when mini club is waiting for all the kids. They can play there until 12 a.m. and then from 3 p.m. till 5 p.m. one more time.
Children come back from mini club very happy and excited. They do many crafts ther and play many cool games. Especially Alionka and Meisa.
All the staff is always smiling and is ready to help you.
It was an amazing vacation!!!!!

Venosa is a beautiful town to walk around. The castle in the main square was built in 1470 (the deep moat now a lush lawn) and the shops in the square are fronted by a beautiful covered arched walkway (the corner cafe makes good coffee). We loved wandering along the beautiful narrow cobbled streets watching people go about their business, stopping for a coffee and to buy pasta, dried peppers (pepperoni cruschi, available at Levcania Enoteca are a regional specialty) and panini (plus some wonderful house-made taralli which sustain us as car snacks for the rest of the trip).
At Cantina di Venosa we tasted and bought Aglianico del Vulture (DOC), plus a dry rose and, surprisingly, a sparkling red. We also visited the ancient cellars of Cantina dei Notaio in nearby Rionero, producer of La Firma, our favourite Aglianico of the trip.
On the outskirts of town is the huge monastic complex Abbazia della Santissima Trinita, built above a Roman temple in 1046. It all looked closed when we visited ... then an old man beckoned us into the church and turned on lights so we could view the frescoes and mosaics.
At Cantina di Venosa we tasted and bought Aglianico del Vulture (DOC), plus a dry rose and, surprisingly, a sparkling red. We also visited the ancient cellars of Cantina dei Notaio in nearby Rionero, producer of La Firma, our favourite Aglianico of the trip.

If you have an interest in the Templar Knights then Venosa is a must for you.
Venosa is off the main highways and an easy drive in just over an hour from Potenza and the scenery getting there is beautiful with the vines and olive trees all around. This is a major producer of wine and olive oil and there is a large coop winery on the western end of the city.
As you enter the city from the west the Castello stands out with its corner towers and moat. This is now a museum. Across from the castello you will find a tourist office with local maps. There are many great places to eat in this central area.
Venosa is a great town to walk. As you walk along the stone streets you will see ancient Roman blocks that have been incorporated into other buildings. There are several churches with interesting architecture. Venosa is also the birthplace of Horace (Orazio) the famous Roman poet.
One the east end of town are the l'Incompiuta, l'Abbazia della Trinità, and il Parco Archeologico di Notarchirico. This is the massive incomplete church where you can walk amongst the empty stone walls. This was intended to be an expansion of the church of S. Trinity but never completed in the 12th Century. This church houses artwork and graves of some important characters in the history of the Knights of Malta.
Next to this is the archeological park with some very interesting Roman ruins. Venosa was a main stop along the Via Appia and you can walk some of these ancient Roman roads.
A little farther east and you will find Jewish catacombs though these are currently closed for archeological work.

No visit to Basilicata is complete without Venosa. It's a fascinating little town. The archeological area and the Church of the Incompiuta are amazing. A woman from Minutiello Tours stepped in and gave us a free tour of the house of Horace - very professional!

A beautiful town with an extraordinary Jewish history. We stayed at Ca' del Borgo. Very romantic. We had a wonderful guide. Maria Minutiello. Not expensive. info@minutielloviaggi.com

Venosa was home to one of the most famous roman poets, Quinto Oratio Flacco. The little town is disseminated with quotations from some of his most important works. It's a lovely place, its streets paved with marble stones, a huge castle that welcomes you upon arrival. An aoutstanding archeological park, hebrew catacumbs next to christian ones. Layers of history...

There is a little bit of everything in town: 2000 years old tombs, a castle, a beautiful Cathedral rich of symbolic signs. The city is has a millenary culture of wine too.

Venosa was meant to be a stop for us to break up the trip between Pompeii and Alberobello but we were pleasantly surprised by it's charm. The central square by the castle is small but lovely. We easily parked and began to wander down the main street through the town. We found several cute shops and restaurants and bought a couple of charming reminders of our visit. Beautiful cobble stone streets and interesting historical sites all around. Unfortunately the excavation was closed as it definitely looked interesting to see. Would definitely recommend.

This town has a little of everything from a castle with a museum in side to Jewish catacombs. It also has a Roman ruin site

We arrived in Venosa from Melfi and wandered the old town core and Castle until we worked up an appetite for lunch. Venosa while only stop for us was very pretty and the locals friendly with lots of bars and cafes mon the main square where life is most active for this city. It is well worth wandering the street from the central core and seeing the houses and shops, The Castle is impressive and strikes and imposing figure in the middle of the square, but we found the Purgatory Church more interesting as a sight. It is very seldom that my wife and I spend time exploring the insides of the places we visit as we prefer to experience the neighborhoods and vistas found only in getting lost in a city and wandering aimlessly.
