    Seen better Days but ok
Brighton has definitely seen better days. For a one-day-trip this is what you face: The famous beach is painful to walk on, there are no beautiful facilities like shops, restaurants to speak of and many visitors seem to head for alcohol only. I loved the Leonidas Chocolate Shop and everyone being friendly.

    Colorful But Expensive Beach Boxes
I drove the family out to see the famous bathing boxes of Brighton beach. Street parking was limited but we found one close by as the nearest lot was blocked off by a construction crew. There was already a busload of tourists wandering around when we finally stepped onto the sand. We walked from one end of the beach to the other checking out and photographing the famously colorful beach boxes. Most were painted in simple bright colors while others added graphics like a VW van, dolphin, kangaroos, etc. It still boggles my mind that one recently sold for over $400,000! Quite expensive just to store your beach stuff and hang out. Overall we spent about half an hour here. That included some time spent scouring the beach for seashells.

    Epic!
Perfect way to end a gorgeous day at the beach. Went for a sunbathe and decided to grab a bite at the pub across the road. The lovely Oskar was so friendly and welcoming, appreciate the fantastic display of hospitality! Will be back next time the sun is shining for sure!

Brighton Beach is the sea-side playground of one of Melbourne's, most affluent suburbs. It's a good beach, fine for swimming; Brighton Beach is best-known for the bathing boxes. The bathing boxes are colorfully painted; they are popular with visitors, who often take selfies. The bathing boxes are mostly owned by local residents, who use them to get changed, store their clothes and so on while they are in the water. Brighton Beach is well-known for its family background.

Brighton Beach, as it is generally known, comprises several kilometers of beach divided into areas with different names: Brighton, Middle Beach and Dendy Street Bech (in the latter there are the colored boxes).
From the CBD it took about 25-30' by metro. The neighborhood is residential with very nice houses of a good standard.
We had pretty bad weather: cold, drizzle, wind... everything bad, haha, but we still decided to walk around with umbrellas in hand, as much as possible. First we went to the beach next to the metro station and after a short walk we arrived at Brighton Gardens, a pleasant green space, to finish at Dendy Street Beach (I did a separate review on their profile).
They are rustic beaches, with plenty of vegetation. Throughout the area there is a continuous path for cyclists along the coast and spaces for parking vehicles.
At the time, obviously, we couldn't enjoy the sea, but I liked getting to know it. We combined it with St. Kilda Beach, a few kilometers away.
My score represents Good (NOT Fair).

Love this beach with it's Iconic Beach Huts, which have huge price tags, one selling in 2016 for $285,000, saying that the beautiful artwork on some of the huts is fabulous. The beach is pristine and I loved the shallow rock pools left by the out going tide which are great to explore. If you fancy a swim there are life guards in attendance,or just kick back you heel and enjoy the sun.

This a beautiful, well maintained sandy beach. Well looked for the tourists and locals as this is one of Melbourne's great photo opportunities, The Beach Huts!! If you are new to the area, this is a selfie must. Bring your dog, bring the kids, bring your whole family there is heaps of room on the beach and the water is crystal clear and great for a paddle. All the local car parks have fees, but you might get a space down a side street on the the side of the road.

The beach houses look extreme good in photos and it is mesmerizing when you see these from distance. But when you actually reach there you might ask yourself - what's so fascinating about this? Beach is pristine and it's lovely to have a swim. It's only about 40 minutes by train from Flinder street station (main train station in Melbourne). So if you have couple of spare hours, why not to capture some photos!

I have seen many photos of this iconic beach but have never been this way until now.
It brings a smile to your face. So many cute timber huts all individually painted. The beach is also nice although most people were just there to photograph the huts.
There was an owner there painting his hut and he was happy to talk to us and tell us about them.
Worth a visit!

The beach itself is simply beautiful, and the addition of the bathing boxes lined up along the beach makes the landscape all the more attractive. The water seemed quite clean, great for a swim, and with a nice view of Melbourne in the distance.

Just be aware to pay for parking as the inspectors are quick to slap your car windshield with a fine.

Brighton Beach is really made up of a few smaller beaches that connect. You have Middle Brighton [includes the pier], Brighton itself, Dendy Street Beach, Hollows Beach to Green Point.

It does get very busy in the Summer months, especially the Dendy Street Beach part as the Brighton Bathing Boxes are there. It is a popular area for the locals and tourists alike to exercise - SUPing, swimming, walking, dog walking to name a few. There are always photographers to be found and even the occasional model photo shoot. No matter where you walk on the beach you lays have Melbourne looking over your shoulder in the distance.

The Middle Brighton Pier leads to the marina and is only accessible by locals. There is a great waling path and a bike track. You will find a cafe and place to eat here too as well as a large carpark. Another carpark can be found at Green Point - both have app access or ticket machines.

It really is a lovely place to relax. The sand is truly golden and the water quite clear. Keep a lookout for some shells and the Bayside Coastal Artists Trial [see seperate review] - you can learn about the history, indigenous / local culture through the eyes of a range of artists.

A great way to spend a few hours.

Brighton is the most beautiful beach in Melbourne. Colourful bathing boxes are the main attractions of the place. One can enjoy the best glimpse of Melbourne Skyline from the beach. It's a paradise for Instagramers. The beach is very close to the train station & well connected with the suburbs as well as CBD, just 25 mins train ride from Flinders Street station(CBD). Brighton, Middle Brighton & North Brighton there are 3 stations to reach the beach. One can get down in any of the stops & can walk alongside the beach. The whole area is really attractive. Best place to spend some quality family time.Kids can enjoy at the sea shore while parents can sun bask. Sea gulls are everywhere searching for food & disturbing crowds. North road foreshore children park is in vicinity & always crammed with cheerful kids.

Overcrowded, overhyped and overrated. The actual beach is narrow and not particularly attractive; the front of the bathing boxes are overcrowded with people taking selfies; and basically it’s underwhelming.

There are many better things to see and do in Melbourne and it seems rather pointless to visit this place.

The photos you have seen are enough. Real life adds little if anything
