Located in Saint Hugues, a small church in an equally quaint village in Saint Pierre de Chartreuse, is now an Isere museum that houses the largest collection of Arcabas' works in contemporary christian art. Religious services are still held and the museum is closed during those times. Spiritually moving, one can't help but appreciate Arcabas' inspiration which rendered innumerable works... More

This unassuming church has spawned the Art of Arcabas. Individual works span 30+ years starting when he was 25. Even if you weren't into religious art these plentiful images would get you engaged. Our landlord recommended this church for a quick visit. As the name suggests, it's full of sacred art - paintings, sculpture, stained glass. We were warmly welcomed. There's a commentary in French. It's a light and airy space and well worth a 20 minute stopover.

Wonderful space for its collection of sacred modern art by the still-living artist Arcabas. A peaceful, glorious moment is worth the detour. The visit is free, plus there are plenty of little restaurants with local fare in the vicinity. Our favourite is the Ferme de Brevardiere (reserve ahead)

They changed as he evelved froma young unknown artist over many years. It is now a state museum... More
