Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped at the perron on our way to Yzerfontein and was lucky enough to caught a show with 'Tannie Evita' ... what a great spoil. We enjoyed drinks but did not want to eat as we were pressed for time. There are a number of nice things to do, even fun photo opportunities ... make the stop if you have a chance!!

In passing through Darling we just stopped at the Perron out of curiosity and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. Wasn't show time but to stroll through the hordes of South African memorabilia of yesteryear was just awesome. Don't miss it if you ever are in the Darling vicinity.

Enjoyed the ambiance and the nostalgia in the museum. The food was good & wholesome. A must visit for all to reflect on the Pieter Dirk Uys career, being a thorn in the side of the Nationalist Party. Pleasant setting and the staff were very friendly.

A must see if you are near Darling. Very busy, but interesting decor. Beautiful old cupboards. Lekker koeksisters.

I respect and admire Pieter-Dirk Uys and his satirical alter ego, Evita Bezuidenhout. But I also expect him to respect me. I appreciate the tongue-in-cheek restaurant, shop and garden. But please serve edible food in the restaurant! We had the bobotie followed by the Tipsy Tart. The menu is extremely limited and this seemed the best option. It was tasteless. The rice was ... rice. And it all swam in an oniony sambal juice. The bobotie and tipsy tart was the worst that I have ever had in a restaurant. I cannot accept a bottle of used chutney being put on a table by a rude waitron. Or allow me to decide tongue in the cheek what I want to pay for it in the end.
Sorry, I was not respected in apartheid South Africa, and I am not respected at this restaurant. That, unfortunately, put the satire of Pieter-Dirk Uys in a new light: Is his tongue in his cheek, or is it not?
Go here for a show, but rather eat somewhere else.

I visited Evita se Perron in 2009 and absolutely loved it. Today I was absolutely saddened by the state of it. The garden is neglected and the famous fake flowers are missing. It actually looked unkept and sad. The gift shop had very little stock and there was a depressing vibe hanging over the place. For an attraction to have so much potential and then left to fade away like that is unthinkable. Come on guys!!! You have a winning recipe but the pudding is falling on the floor at the moment!!!!

A must-visit when in Darling. Home of the famous Evita Bezuidenhout/Pieter Dirk Uys. Various shows are held here - a quaint restaurant (railway station style) which serves the best toasted cheese sandwiches in town. Reminisce of days gone by...

An evening of 50’s through to 80’s music performed by James Marais and Monique Cassells. The choice of music was great and they obviously love what they do as they positively glowed throughout the whole evening. They also have a wicked sense of humour which shines through. They were brilliant!
The venue is a converted Victorian railway station and therefore lends itself to an intimate atmosphere.
We dined before the show and has a choice of two main meals which were tasty. They have a licensed bar and so the drinks flowed throughout the show, with the waiters and waitresses being efficient and unobtrusive.
Wonderful family evening.
