About
The Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir, situated in the Raman Reti area of Vrindavan, holds a special significance for devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. This grand temple represents the fulfilled dream of Srila Prabhupada, founder acharya of ISKCON, who wished to construct a temple of unparalleled beauty for the worship of the transcendental brothers Krishna and Balaram in the same village where they played more than five thousand years ago. Prabhupada directly oversaw all aspects of design and construction and personally called the Lord to come and accept the worship of His devotees from around the world. He said "Lord Balaram is the source of spiritual strength, and I have built this temple just to give strength to the devotees". Today, the Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir is a booming spiritual center. Every day of the week pilgrims flood in great numbers from nearby Delhi and all over the world. In fact, the large green government signs posted over the highway turn off to Vrindavan only give directions to two temples: Banke Bihari and ISKCON. Visitors to the temple first pass under the brilliant white marble archway of Srila Prabhupadas samadhi, an architectural wonder of winding peacock stairways and intricately carved walls and domes. They then enter through the gigantic wooden temple doors and find themselves transported to the spiritual world upon seeing the palace of Krishna Balaram with its sunken black and white checkered marble courtyard, beautified by a living tamal tree. The music of the kartals, mrdanga and sweet harmonium of the 24 hour kirtaneers enters the heart, and everyone, including young and old, spontaneously raise their arms and dance in ecstasy. Ascending the courtyard steps, visitors approach the effulgent gorgeous forms of the source of all beauty, the presiding Lords Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Krishna Balaram and Radha Shyamasundar. Standing transfixed with open eyes and folded hands, pilgrims drink in the dazzling vision of the Lord, artistically decorated with no consideration of expense or effort, truly a festival for the eyes. This entire temple complex is a busy preaching powerhouse comprised of thirty departments including a guesthouse, welcome center, Samadhi museum, ten book stalls, bakery, restaurant, broadcast studio, residential Brahmacari ashram and a Deity department with one of the highest standards of worship in the world, engaging more than one hundred devotees directly in the seva everyday.

    Spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
A beautiful temple with stunning intricacies and workmanship in walls, staircase, domes and archways. True example of white marble architecture. Peaceful, enjoyable and serene environment. The maintenance of the complex is amazing and makes you want to remain the temple for longer duration. Cleanliness is taken good care of. Definitely A promising experience for the tourists and devotees of Krishna and Balaram.

    Eat and pray
The temple is beautiful and well maintained. There are few shops selling religious items and other stuff. They also have Govinda resturant (recommended) and a fast food canteen. If you want to eat for free, go to their gaushala that has free food whole day. You can't take your vehicle there so use e-rickshaw. Do ensure that he drops you at main gate (Gate 1) else otherwise they will make you fool and you will have to walk a lot.

    Known as Krishna Balaram Temple
Upon arriving at the temple, you'll find a shoe stand at the entrance with limited capacity. If possible, it's advisable to leave your footwear there. Upon entering, you'll immediately encounter the Samadhi of Srila Prabhupada, the revered founder of ISKCON. No need to climb stairs for this visit. On the right side, you'll find a hall exhibiting various forms of Krishna, worth a brief five-minute visit. Adjacent to this, there are 2-3 shops selling assorted items related to ISKCON. Moving forward, you'll reach the main temple where Kirtan, devotional singing, is ongoing throughout the day. It's highly recommended to participate in this soul-stirring activity. The temple is typically heavily crowded at all times. Afterwards, you can spend some time in the small courtyard area in front of the deities, where you can sit and soak in the spiritual atmosphere. As you exit, you'll pass by Govindam, the temple's restaurant. If you wish, you can enjoy a meal or grab some fast food there.

This is a beautiful temple of Krishna built, as they say under the supervision of Swami Prabhupad. It was amazing experience for us to see many foreigners there chanting 'Hare krishna' there. Compared to crowded and mismanaged Banke Bihari temple it was a very enlightening and peaceful experience here.

Even if you are not interested in the philosophy you will find plenty to occupy you on a trip to ISKCON. Food stalls, a bakery, juice stand, gift shops and bookshops. It's like a mela every day. The white marble architecture is magnificent. And a visit to the temple will amaze you. The mosaic and painted walls, constant chanting and the most splendid altars you will ever see. A multi level experience for all the family.

It is one of the cleanest temple at vrindavan. Properly manged with not a speck of dirt anywhere. The best thing about this temple is that nobody fleeces you for money. The idols are immaculately dressed and you will start getting spiritual feeling once you enter the temple. Provision for keeping shoes and water is there in the temple. Worth a visit if you are in vrindavan.
