We didn't do a tour based on some local reviews, but it was interesting to see how they made the cheese. The kids absolutely loved the ice cream, and as per everywhere else, the people there were great!

If you love ice cream and you are around, drop in and get your Copa Grande. Two scoops of lovely ice cream pleasure will make your day. Try the rum raisins or higos (figs). But all other flavors I tried were great.

The ice cream is delicious, and this is the best price you'll find it at ($4US for 2 scoops), but they no longer do the tours of the factory or free cheese samples.

I am not a connoisseur of gourmet ice cream but my wife and teenage daughters are--and they raved about the ice cream store attached to this dairy just outside the Monteverdi Reserve gates. Chocolate of course.

I am from dairy country in the USA and I have eaten a lot of ice cream. I was not expecting to find incredible ice cream in Costa Rica but I can say that the ice cream produced by the Monteverde Cheese Factory is one of the best I have ever tasted! It is absolutely amazing! I would of course... More

We stopped by the cheese shop to check it out because CR does not produce many different cheeses. We're not sure why, but the government makes everything so expensive here I'm speculating that that is the reason. It's a very small place & like most places in CR, don't expect much. The Ticos in CR always make our day. They... More

Lot's of negative nonsense on Trip Advisor about the Monteverde Cheese Factory. Go in and order an ice cream cone and you'll forget all the bad stuff :-). Great ice cream and a wide selection of locally made cheeses. Had the cheese on some crackers for lunch and was happy, happy. Maybe the Chardonnay helped but think it may have... More

Went to the cheese factory to try to get a tour or learn more of the cheese making. Upon arrival, we were informed there's no actual cheese tour. The cheese factory is actually toward the back of an ice cream shop. Although there's no tour per se, we were able to see cheese in production, though there was no one... More

We were told by our walking guide that the new owners have stopped doing tours of the cheese factory. We stopped by for some excellent ice cream - the coffee ice cream was the best of the four flavours we tried. The coffee was pretty decent too. And the toilet was clean. The entry needs to be changed - it... More
