Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wide open vistas, marshy lake, Meadow Lark haven. I've stopped along the highway here and been overwhelmed by the Meadow Lark's traditional call. I've seen a cinnamon bear rummaging in the trees to the east of the lake, and watched various raptors such as a Red-tailed Hawk and small Kestrel streak by. Good hikes in the area that can be one way (car at the other end) or a circle route up into the pines and over to Mahoney Lake. You can also stop iat the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory for a very interesting tour, or make a plan to see the annual August Perseid meteor shower from the Observatory grounds with excellent astronomical presentations too.

Did the 16 km loop on bikes. Trail was a little overgrown that may have been harder to navigate on foot. Really beautiful wilderness area but definitely a rustic trail as very minimal signage (we used our trail forks app to keep us on track). Really beautiful wilderness area.

A bit out of the way and worlds away from the hustle and bustle of life. This is a special understated place

Don't come here looking for dazzle dazzle beach going fun. It's a gorgeous, isolated spot with wide open views and a decent walking trail. I've seen deer and rattlesnakes here. Take a packed lunch and enjoy the silence. And close by is the Dominion Observatory if you want to touch base with the twenty first century.
