Historic house, good retreat for a tea outside the city

We spent the afternoon with my girlfriend and her aunt. We took some tea and learnt about Victoria Ocampo, one of the most relevant women of her time.

It belogs to the UNESCO. Victoria Ocampo had a ver interest view of the future. The place is incredible and its manteinance is excelent. In the gardens you can see the two trees which inspired Antoine Saint Exupery for the baobabs in The Little Prince!

This is the place where Victoria Ocampo spent much of her life and hosted a good number of historic leaders and cultural personalities from all around the world, from Rabindranath Tagore to Federico García Lorca, Graham Greene, Albert Camus or Jorge Luis Borges, the list is endless. The house itself is elegant but not extravagant, and the gardens, the library... More

It is the place where the East met with the South. Rabindranath Tagore with Victoria Ocampo. The eastern raga "Purabi" got a different melody in "Sur". This ancestral house of Victoria Ocampo, the " La Infanta", is now a UNESCO cultural and heritage centre. It houses more than 12000 books and is visited by streams of art and culture loving... More

The house is incredible but the story of Ocampo, her life, and her personal library is stunning. You can reserve books to read online. Make sure to eat in the restaurant and try the assorted teas.

This old mansion in the hill above the river was the home of some famous Argentine writer/critic. Interesting to see how people lived here +/-100 years ago. We went on a nice sunny winter day and stopped here on our way back from the Tigre.

What a fascinating place and a fascinating woman! If you like history and literature this house is a must see. The tour was great, the entry cheap and the gardens beautiful. I learned a lot and enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea. Don't forget to get an original copy of Sur on your way out. A piece of history!

Beautiful gardens surround this once magnificent villa. Even though much seems have been done to restore it, it is far from the past glory and left me wondering of the splendor it was described by in history books... The restaurant/cafeteria is of basic standard but set in a cozy room, decorated with pictures of the many writers that visited and... More

This beautiful historic mansion was once the summer home of Victoria Ocampo where she hosted many famous dignitaries and celebrities. It is now part museum and part restaurant. It is a very peaceful and tranquil place with a tremendous aura of Argentine history. There is a nominal admission fee and it is well worth the visit.

Nice museum like atmosphere. They have concerts and special events to enjoy in the garden. Nice to see and visit. The place was an important part of argentine history and received very important visits in the time of Ms. Ocampo
