Discover Blair Castle and go on a journey into the fascinating past of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. Unique amongst Scottish castles, the story here leads you from Mary Queen of Scot's visit to the Civil War, and from the Jacobite cause to Queen Victoria's famous stay which led to the creation of Europe's only surviving private army, the Atholl Highlanders. Over 700 years of Scottish history are on display across 30 rooms. Highlights of the castle tour include the Baronial Entrance Hall, featuring weapons used at the Battle of Culloden; the classic Georgian styling of the Picture Staircase; the grandeur of the State Dining Room and Drawing Room; and the magnificent Ballroom, bedecked in hundreds of antlers. The Castle sits at the hub of a breathtaking historic landscape and the gardens and grounds feature a 9 acre walled garden, a peaceful wooded grove, a ruined kirk, a red deer park and a whimsical Gothic folly.

The highland ponies are a treat, we did a 2 hour hack round part of the estate. Well behaved and responsive little ponies with character. A well managed trekking centre with fantastic views and routes. These working ponies are active and nothing like the bored creatures you get at some places, a delight to ride and we'll definitely be back.... More

The castle is very impressive and there is access to the majority of the rooms in the main building. The rooms are all furnished and well-preserved, and the guides willing to explain things to you. The guidebooks and information sheets in each room are also good. The grounds are extensive and well kept, alongside with a play area for younger... More

We went here while staying at blair atholl caravan park. Had 3 kids age 7, 11 and 15 with us. Thought they might be bored but they really enjoyed it as did we. Lots to see in the castle my youngest loved the quiz to find all the objects. Gardens are lovely and kids enjoyed the adventure park though it... More

Blais Castle is located in the Blair Atholl surrounded by true Scottish gardens which include a stream. This is the site of the yearly guard review of the Duke of Atholl who resides in South Africa. The castle has an impressive entrance with a collection of arms. You can tour the rooms of the castle which end in the grand... More

This castle is a must visit when in the area. The entrance hall is full of rifles and claymore swords used through the history of the castle. You can tour the castle at your own pace looking through the history of the family. Lots of rooms to see and marvel at the intricate architectural fixtures. The staff are on hand... More

Breath-taking visit to this very historic building. We learned so much and the staff were friendly, informative and extremely good with our two boys! The grounds and gardens are beautiful and the kids very much enjoyed the playground after our tour of the castle.
