We are so fortunate in having this idyllic spot only a few miles down the road. Flatford is world renowned as the setting for John Constable's "Haywain" and other of his celebrated works. It is also a lovely place in its own right, with brilliant...More

We decided to visit Flatford Mill on a whim, and I must say it was well worth the visit. I had previously visited Constable country whilst on a school trip some forty-five years ago and had vague memories of it. The national trust have taken...More

Lovely day and the weather was wonderful so everything was better. You can see why he chose the area that Constable, did it was very picturesque. But the weather played a part in the ambience.

Went with family on May Day Bank Holiday - in Valley Farm where we saw some amazing handmade Tudor decorations and artefacts, really well done and interesting. I loved it all and the volunteers were excellent. Thanks to the two ladies I spoke to about...More

Really great venue. Had a guide who was really funny. Told us all about the place and Constables paintings. Didn't have time for tea. But Will come back.

We visited the iconic flatford mill (Constable painting location) for a friends birthday. The mill and surrounding areas have probably changed very little over the last 200 years as you walk along the river with the grazing cows wandering around freely. We stayed over as...More

Hi - a group of about 10 people are coming along to visit on Monday 21 March. 2 questions please: - is there a guided tour we could book and if so, how much per person is it? - will the restaurant be open for lunch, as I notice it doesn't open on a Monday earlier in the year? Thanks

Can I reach The Mill and Granary by bus. I can get to Chelmsford but would be lost after that.

I would go to Dedham. It is a lovely walk along the river to Flatford. You just need to walk out of the town a little. Stroll along the path beside the river and you will get to the mill. Good luck and have a wonderful day!
Is there a menu and price guide and do I need to book?
