Folkstone is a great destination for families with younger kids like us. Our 6 and 7 year-olds had a great time there! Powdery, soft sand beach, crystal clear waters with gentle waves, and easily accessible reefs from shore - which is buoyed off from jet skis and boats that zip along the coast. Attended by lifeguards as well. Both our... More

This is a lovely beach and picnic area with a small shop, showers and changing facilities juts up the coast from Hometown. It is very popular with local families at the weekends. The garden area and beach boardwalk were unfortunately strewn with litter, and although there were bins provided, these were overflowing and had not been emptied. With some care... More

What a spot to enjoy a day! We met the lady that tends the gardens and it was well kept. We also met Kenrick - He runs a glass bottom boat tour from the beach there. He is top drawer ! He took my family of 6 out for a 2 hour tour, we swam with turtles and snorkelled the... More

Make sure you come closer to low tide, and preferably not on Sunday, when it's a picnic ground for families with kids who fill the water. Probably not for beginner snorkelers unless you have a lifejacket.

This is a free marine park not far from Holetown. Nice beach and very quiet , hardly any tourists. A Few locals Great place to snorkel , lots of fish and clear blue seas and we chilled here for a few hours. No refreshments so you'll have to take your own. A great little find though.

Free parking, free entry, nice beach. It's a protected area, and we were therefore surprised that there weren't large numbers of fish when we snorkelled - there was a good variety, but not that many of them. Still pretty nice, though.

There are more great beaches in Barbados than one can imagine, but we like Folkestone because depending on the tide you can be in the shade and still on the sand. Great snorkelling also, waves and current strong enough may not be suitable for small children in some parts, great for teens. A hut that serves beer, very civilized!

We took the bus from the south side of the island ($8 American for two of us round-trip vs. $70 r/t for a cab), which worked fine. The beach and picnic areas were busy with families enjoying picnics...lots of cute, happy children around. The park is very basic and even more so on a Sunday, I guess--the information office with... On the day we went snorkelling there were lots of youngsters kissing and cuddling in the area - a multi purpose attraction? There was some wind about so you had to be careful getting in and out of the rock areas with the waves. Did see some sea life but expected to see more as it is a protected reef.... More
