This beach has the best snorkeling from the beach in Roatan. You only have to swim out about 50 feet to the reef that is in shallow water and great for both beginners and more advanced snorkelers. Absolutely beautiful - be sure to bring an...More
I have been going to Roatan for almost 15 years and have always been in love with the white sandy beach, crystaline waters and off the beach snorkeling.. and the peace and calmeness.. not any more!! the cruise ships are bringing in massive amounts of...More
Thanks to the cruise ships and their descending hoards West Bay feels more like Jamaica than the beautiful quiet little friendly gem it once was.
Obnoxious vendors and tour operators help to spoil the vibe!!

the roads are not that bad, many have been paved recently. the beach is public and free. there are lots of restaurants. who needs a chair? bring a blowup float and carry minimal belongings (like a water purse so you can keep your money and id on you in the water), then leave your towel and coverup on the beach because NO ONE WILL MESS WITH THEM. as for crowded days, there is plenty of water out there, so bring your snorkel gear and head out from shore, away from the people.
