I accompanied a small group of Ukrainian medical doctors to see the museum dedicated to the eminent surgeon, Dr. Nicholai Pirogov (1810-1881). The museum is located in the house where he spent most of his life. He is buried in a nearby mausoleum, which we also visited. Pirogov worked on the Russian side during the Crimean War, perfecting the use... More

A museum dedicated to the great contribution of an outstanding doctor. We had the pleasure of a guided tour (in English) which was very detailed. The guide was GREAT. The only downside is that they tend to exaggerate in order to glorify the doctor. For example they claim the honorable doctor performed over 10,000 surgeries in battle conditions during a... More

I really enjoyed walking through the rooms of Pirogov's Estate, admiring his impressive work innovating medical field. The only drawback was that no one has offered a guided tour, although later we saw a group with a guide behind us. Some information was displayed in English, but not all, so I found myself translating to my husband. It would have... More

Nice touch of the 19th century history and development of medicine. Great guides and very nice park in the area. You can see old house of Pirogov and some installations at the pharmacy building nearby.

That museum tells you about life of the person witch did so much for humanity and for all of as. The entrance fee is almost nothing(it use to be less then 2 dollars) It has couple of cool installations, the whole exhibition is pretty good, friendly stuff and it surrounded by a green park where you can spend couple hours.

Worth walk around definitely but only if you speak Ukrainian or have someone that can translate for you. The tour is done only in Ukrainian so if you dont understand it will get no benefit from the tours. Beautiful gardens and property

Fascinating place. We went there with our group and the guide was also magnificent. Her English was very fluent. Actually the man who lived in that house is great doctor. He added a lot of informations to science. He is famous all of the world. His body is ground floor of the church which is 1 km away this place.... More
