About
Blackwattle Alpaca Farm is located only 25 minutes from Canberra, making it an ideal location for a day trip with your family or friends. Surrounded by wineries with views of the Brindabella Ranges, our farm offers picturesque views and is in an unique location to learn about alpacas, their luxury fibre and beautiful products they can produce. As we are a working alpaca farm, we can offer visitors an insight into farming alpacas in Australia. Have you ever wanted to pat or cuddle an alpaca or llama? Get up close and personal with our trained alpacas and llamas for a pat or cuddle, before taking some selfies with our animals. Entry to the Farm Shop is free. For interactions with our animals, we offer a range of private tours, starting from the Interactive Tour at $130 for up to four people for 45 minutes and the Alpaca Walking Tour for $230 for 1.5 hours for up to four people.

Wow!!! Fantastic experience feeding all the alpacas and llamas. Followed by an amazing brunch. Beautiful animals which each had their own personalities. A huge shoutout to Jack. She was amazing at answering questions and very witty. We will be coming back for sure maybe during a different season so we can see the hairstyles of all the animals.

A wonderful place to visit. Did the farm tour which was very informative and the animals were just delightful, especially the little babies. The owner did the tour and it was obvious how much she cares for the animals, which was great to see. All the staff were very friendly and excellent cake and coffee for morning tea. Well worth a visit.

When my wife said she wanted to go to an Alpaca farm on the way back to Sydney from Canberra I wasn’t thrilled at the idea, but I’m glad we did.

We went with our 10 yr old and spent a chilled out couple of hours on the tour with Matt guiding us around the wonderful estate and introducing us to the many llamas and alpacas.

We got to meet “Star Lord”, “Aquaman”, “Thor”, “Ghostrider” to name just a few. We walked them around, fed them and met some of the cute three week old babies.

It was a really well paced tour, Matt made it easy, informative, and fun for us all.

To top it all off Angela made us a picnic feast to enjoy at the end of the tour. The food was great quality, fresh produce, good selection and included yummy freshly made chocolate brownies. We ate that at a comfy outdoor dining area with a great view of the surrounding countryside. A great end to a lovely afternoon.

Highly recommend this experience if you’re in this beautiful wine region or looking for a nice activity on the way in or out of Canberra.

Thanks Matt and Angela for making it a special afternoon for us and good luck with the new cafe and facilities coming soon!

We came for a farm tour this week. It was a beautiful place to visit, very welcoming hosts and beautiful animals. The Alpacas arms llamas are delightful and will just make your day. If you're into yarn you won't be disappointed, there is a shop with an amazing range of fibre and colours, just beautiful. Great place to visit if you're in the area and make sure you book in for a tour!

If you are a yarn addict, you won't regret a trip out here. Everything is gorgeous and there is a wide range of beautiful yarns and other products to choose from. You can even have your own custom colours dyed. If you're heading out, book a farm tour so you can meet the gorgeous Alpacas and Llama's! There are also workshops to learn about various crafting skills. The staff are beautiful and we had an amazing time! I will be back for sure.
