Amazing - love the Rex..

Plush seats, reasonably priced drinks and James' reviews - what an experience. Better than being in the city centre. This is cinema going at its very best.

On a short visit to "Berko" we spotted the interesting art deco style cinema and wondered inside (no films being shown at that hour) - what a wonderful revelation! A thoroughly sympathetic restoration of its original splendours greets you upon entry to the main/only screen. Tables and chairs are placed on the ground floor, as well as the usual stall... More

Lush decorations showing off its art deco heritage in plush richness and with large seats with plenty of space front and back on the upper part of the cinema the place doesn't skimp on the technical details either with great sound system and an expanding screen for the feature film. It was touching to see presumably the patron step out... More

Have been wanting to come here for ages, and, after spending an hour trying to get through to the booking office to order tickets I wasn’t disappointed! Easily found somewhere to park in adjacent road, so arrived in plenty of time to soak up the surroundings. Beautiful building and so nicely laid out inside – a great way to see... More

I was bought a voucher for tickets for my birthday. To be honest it was quite a challenge to use it as the phone lines get very busy and tickets sell out really quickly. I didn't want to waste the tickets and see just what happened to be the only film left available with unsold tickets: I wanted to see... More

I do like this cinema experience. A table downstairs with a swivel armchair, a bar close by serving beer, wine and more, and a trashy film with friends and family. Great! Part of the fun is of course hearing the proprietor tell you just how trashy your particular choice of film is :) I do occasionally come to see one... More

We love going to the Rex. Films are superb. Ambience sublime. Seats so comfortable. Like being at home but out out. Good choice of drinks, reasonable price. People always seem to be happy and enjoying the atmosphere of this old place.

What an amazing cinema, we upgraded to the Royal box which is well worth it for a busy film if there are just the two of you. It's only a couple of pound more but you get a table for the two of you and get slightly elevated seats so a better view and right next to the bar. Lovely... More

Visited today for first time, we had matinee tickets and wanted lunch first spent almost an hour finding parking for longer than 4 hours- there were a few places behind waitrose but they were full, eventually parking official sent us to other side of canal which although is only 4 hours he said the cars had already been logged so...
