Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I love this cinema. It is my local. Only 10 minutes away! Great film choices, ambience, and a great little supper room. warm in Winter, cool in Summer.

Oldly worldly, volunteer run cinema. Have been a few times. Such a lovely cinema, friendly old dears run the kitchen and serve warmed snacks for intermission, but you have to place your order prior to the first movie tho!
What a bargain two movies for the price of one!

On entering the Cinema (as a part of our Linga Longa Tour) we enjoyed the organ music provided from the real theatre organ, before viewing some genuine old advertising slides on screen. Then memories from a Cinesound News followed by the B&W movie SAFETY LAST - a real fun memory from 1923. After this entertainment we enjoyed a genuine afternoon tea with huge lamingtons and ea/coffee. What a fabulous locally-owned attraction, operated and maintained by a team of dedicated volunteers. Not to be missed!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that if you're ever in the mood to go to the cinemas then try going to Swanpool cinema which is located 20 km from Benalla !!
For a mere $13.50 you get 2 movies to watch. They are the latest big blockbusters, just a couple of months behind the big cinema releases Plus some of the most exquisite foreign movies that are simply beautiful.
If you enjoy movies with subtitles then they also accommodate that.
It is a cinema that has all the mod cons needed for your comfort.
However what makes the sSwanpool cinema so unique is you literally step back in time to one of the most gorgeous settings ever.
At intermission a cup of tea and some Anzac biscuits and I'm in heaven.
I am quite sure that it is mostly run by volunteers and what incredible volunteers they are.
Always welcoming, smiling and ever so polite.
I tried to go there every Saturday night, my special treat to myself.
The cinema is open predominantly Friday , Saturday and Sunday night's but of course check it out on the website just to be sure.
It's such a hidden wonder.

Visiting friends in Barjarg I suggested we go the movies unbeknownst to me they had a secret, a movie theatre 10 minutes away! The Swanpool cinema takes you back in time, an amazing experience and yes the best choc tops ever! This cinema is run by volunteers in the community and they are to congratulated.

Set in the beautiful north-east of Victoria the Swanpool Cinema has great films (almost always double features), wonderful atmosphere and friendly volunteer staff.
They have the best choc tops since the 1960s and cosy open fire in the cold season.
We make the cinema part of our plan when visiting the area. Well worth it!

Old world charm matched handsomely with friendly community volunteers to run the show. And it gets better - fabulous film choices and to double that - double feature movies at low cost. A great date!

Swanpool Cinema is a converted local hall opened by Henry Bolte in the 50s. It was been charmingly adapted by the locals to keep the wonderful atmosphere on an old hall with old but comfortable cinema style seats, old time ads, and a tea room to the side. The projection equipment and sound is utterly modern, the screen is big, usually there are two movies on the program and you can be pretty sure one at least will be a ripper. If driving at dusk to Swanpool keep an eye out for kangaroos on the road.

Swanpool offers a great cinema with comfortable seats and air conditioned comfort. This location is also used for special events like the Bald Archies. The catering is always of the highest country cooking style.

Fourth time of visiting Swanpool Cinema. It has remarkable projection and sound facilities that rival those in many much larger facilities in major communities. The programming is amazing (independent/art house) and good value (two films for less than the price of one in major communities). But perhaps the best thins about the cinema is the amazing community volunteers who welcome guests warmly (and the choice tops served during the intermission). Remember to bring your own mug to get a discount on coffee/tea!
