Tranquil 5 acre garden paradise, with bridges, waterfalls, waterwheels and magical fountains. Imprinted concrete paths throughout, combined with a huge variety of plantings, make these gardens ideal for year round viewing. Friendly hand fed birds, plus funny signs and scenes throughout the gardens gaurentee to make you laugh. Cafe, giftshop, picnic areas, playground, plus function centre for weddings, etc.

We went as a couple on our way to the airport but the visit to the Water Gardens only took us 30 mins which we felt was not good value for $12 pp. The gardens are beautifully tended and might be better enjoyed by young...More

Nice to see the lotus in flower but otherwise very average, not worth $10 to get in. A sense of humour is an individual thing and mine obviously differs totally from the owner as I found the supposedly funny signs everywhere lame and decidedly unfunny...More

An easy walk amongst beautifully kept water gardens. Interesting plants and features along the path, with an array of water birds. Great for a family picnic

Wow, seen the sign for years and never stopped before! What we've been missing. Charming gardens, but the humour was the best. The cannery museum was well enjoyed by all. As was the kids quiz as we went round. Laughed from start to finish, brilliant!...More

Ngatea water gardens are a wonderful hidden gem. A great place to visit. Make sure you buy some animal food on the way in as there are lots of birds and fish to feed. Take your camera as there are tons of photo opportunities. The...More

Stopped off here as a break in a drive from Auckland Airport (with a jet-lagged passenger) to Tauranga. Had a picnic lunch and a stroll round the garden. It is a very pleasant place to while away an hour or two.
