The Rayleigh Windmill is an award-winning tourist and educational attraction, and popular venue for Weddings and other celebrations. It contains an accredited museum, an exhibition space and information about Rayleigh Mount. It is also situated next to a beautiful sensory garden. Everyone is welcome to come and explore this 200 year old Grade II listed building, learn how the Windmill worked, try the quiz in the museum, dress up in traditional costumes and find out about the Castle that once stood on Rayleigh Mount! The friendly team of volunteers are always on hand to offer guided tours. The Windmill hosts various exhibitions throughout the season on the 2nd floor. To find out more about the exhibitions lined up this season, download the flyer in the Related Documents section on our website. Visit England has accredited the Rayleigh Windmill as a Quality Assured Visitor Attraction. Visit England is a national body that assesses visitor attractions throughout the country. The Windmill is open to the public from the end of March to the end of September, opening times during this period as listed. Please check our website first before visiting as the Windmill may be closed for a Wedding. Please note, parking in the Mill Hall Car Park outside the Windmill is FREE on Saturdays from 1pm and on Sundays all day. We also welcome school and group visits at Rayleigh Windmill and group leaders can download a Group Visit Heritage Guide and booking form from our website. School or group visits may be booked during the winter months but are subject to volunteer availability. Entry is free of charge, a minimum £1 donation per person is encouraged.

There is lots of history to soak up at the Windmill. There is also a nice exhibition of photographs on there at the moment. You will need to be able to climb steep stairs though. Having said that it's worth it
