- Coastal258735438381 contributionViva La Revolution! The Lá Rebelion escape room was amazing! The production was great with very nice little details that give for massive immersion. Not only the escape room was good but also the lobby and staff were great, setting perfect atmosphere before heading to the room.Hi, Thank you for your very kind review! - Frankie C1 contributionPerfect date night activity! We've done a handful of escape room, The Cipher room was hands down the best one we've ever done. There were so many challenges, eventually it all make perfect sense. I love that when we walk into the room, there were even a layer of fog. (That's what we think we seen anyway) Really really set the scene. Highly highly recommend it!!Hi Frankie C, Thank you for your amazing review! - Ben BBrisbane, Australia3 contributionsCipher Room DeliversMy partner and I did the Marlowe Hotel back in about 2019 and it became the absolute gold standard of escape rooms for me ever since. We came back today to do the Cabin and were not disappointed. Extremely well designed with aesthetics, puzzle flow, and story in mind. A great twist at the end and awesome puzzles on both the horizontal and vertical plane. And to top it off; a pin if you escape. Can’t wait to come back and do Espionage!Hi, Thank you for your very kind review! - Fey-ching USydney, Australia18 contributionsPerfect date and bonding enjoyment. We escaped The Marlow hotel. Grateful for extra time to complete. Our brains took a bit of time to warm up to clues. Impressed with some multi parts dimensions set up. Remember, everything you see, no matter how familiar or trivial…are meant to be there for something….and not everything is at eye level. Remember to use all your senses.Hi, Thank you for your very lovely review! - Culture041166250792 contributionsOne of the BEST escape room places we have been to!!!My escape room buddies and I are from Melbourne and came to Cipher Room 2 years ago while on a short Sydney trip. We did Espionage and The Cabin, and the experience was so fun and memorable that we vowed to return and do all the other rooms. This weekend, we did it and the experience was somehow even more fun and memorable than our first time. The rooms are so immersive and beautifully themed that Cipher Room (both locations) is easily one of the best escape room places we have ever visited. I cannot recommend them enough. Seriously, if you can, check them out! Our faves: The Cabin at Newtown and Mr Pepper's at St Peters. But all the rooms are great!Hi, Thank you for your very kind review! - Julie GSutherland Shire, Australia1 contributionThrilling Escape Room. World class! We went to La Rebellion as a party of 8 for my 12 year old son's birthday. Our host was Ace, by name and by nature. They were so brilliant and kind in explaining what to expect and the Do's & don't s (we had kids aged from 12 to 8) so we entered the room feeling excited and prepared. Ace told us that if we ever got stuck they could help us by giving us helpful clues along the way. They did help us a few times, not by solving the problem for us, but by helpfully pointing us in the right direction or asking us to re-look at a clue, this enabled us to solve the puzzle ourselves and our kids had a real sense of achievement. Even though La Rebellion is a high difficulty game, with Ace's help, we were able to finish the room ourselves. We ran overtime by 15 mins and Ace allowed us to have extra time so that we could finish. This was the the most exciting and thrilling experience and we can't wait to return for each of our kids birthdays 🏃🏽♀️🎯📷🥳⭐️🔥😎Hi, Thank you for your very kind review! - Curiosity310893319001 contributionExcellent ExperienceA fantastic experience and remarkable atmosphere; it's very clear that much love and dedication has gone into crafting The Cipher Room's rooms and stories, and we are all the better for it :) This year we explored Mr Pepper's Toy Shop, a moderate difficulty escape room with horror-themed elements and had quite a fun time going through each puzzle presented to us! (I imagine the decision to play this at a late night timeslot also added its own flavour, too...) Particular highlights include the incredible mechanical work involved inside one of the puzzles and the culmination of our investigation at the end as well, with a consistent ambience that had me quite startled every time there was even a hint of a jumpscare LOL. We have done one other room at The Cipher Room previously (The Cabin), and I'm also very pleased to note that there are very few if any repeating puzzles here, making for a fresh new experience in and of itself. More collectable pins, hurray! Thank you for having us!Hi, Thank you for your incredibly lovely review! - 882dianneb2 contributionsInteresting, challenging and funThe room was really well set up and very interesting and with some cool surprises in there. It was hard though. But then again I’m 61 years old so not so sharp anymore. The younger ones in my group loved it, it was quite challenging. Thanks for the little pin/medal at the end.Hi, Thank you for your very kind review! - Gina P10 contributionsEscape room awesomeness in AustraliaWow! We came all the way from Los Angeles and we were very excited to play at Cipher Rooms. It did not disappoint! In addition to clever and exciting rooms with immersive sets, the staff were some of the kindest I've met doing escapes all over the world. I highly recommend that you go play these exciting games. We played Mr Pepper'sand Rebellion. It was a great experience for our family to share. :-) I would love to say more, but that would ruin the fun, so go check it out for yourself.Hi Gina, Thank you for your incredibly kind review! This escape room experience was the best fun ever for my family (incl 3 teenagers). Highly recommend this game 'Mr Peppers Toy Store' - fantastically engineered puzzles, clever narrative, wonderful attention to detail and a lovely host that made sure our experience was thrilling and fun. We are already planning our next game with this group - thank you for the ingenuity and entertainment of this room.

I've worked at an escape room in Canberra for over 4 years, and the entire time I've heard amazing things about Cipher, whether it be from my coworkers who've done their rooms or customers trying ours. I finally went up to Sydney to try them with a couple of my friends/coworkers, and they did not disappoint!
The production value alone of this business is insane; the atmosphere and tone of the rooms is immediately set as soon as you take off your blindfold, props and puzzles are very well made, and its immediately apparent that even the most minute details in each room has been deliberately planned and considered. One of the rooms we did - the Marlowe Hotel - was painted and constructed entirely
in shades of grey! It was ridiculously impressive.
All of this has been said without even a lick about the puzzles, and oh boy are they just as good as the rest of Cipher. We did two rooms (Marlowe and The Cabin) and I don't recall a single puzzle in either room that made me frustrated with its design or was confusing to understand either in the moment of solving or in restrospect after escaping. Every single riddle in both rooms was logically constructed and presented to the escapee in a way that made them both challenging and satisfying to solve. Often when doing a room, I'll encounter puzzles that require a very specific line of thinking out of many possible and logical solutions, or need too many connections between various items to be made in order to be solved. Every puzzle at Cipher was simple in the best possible way and it made the rooms a treat to complete.
Lachy and Sharmin (hope spelling is at least close!) ran our rooms, and they were both really really good at their jobs - having a high level of knowledge about the rooms themselves and being super professional and friendly in their interactions with us. Thanks so much to both of them for being amazing hosts, and thank you to Cipher for an awesome experience! Next time I visit Sydney I will absolutely be hoping to make it back to Cipher to add the Espionage and hopefully Mr. Pepper's Toy Shop to my list of completed rooms!

Outstanding VFM visited Feb 2020 and 3 of us were thoroughly taxed for over an hour. Really good challenge hard but not stupidly so. Can’t speak highly enough and will return. Sets are really authentic and very well done.

Last night we experienced the Espionage room🧐 We were a group of 4, three newbies and one person only ever experiencing one escape room before. A great room for beginners!
Omg! Where do I start?! The props and ambience definitely brings you back to the era of late-war 1945. Loved that most of the props are sourced in Newtown too! Super cool!
Without giving away too much, the room and puzzles were so cleverly thought out. A good mix of search, mechanical intelligence and cryptic instructions.
There was enough flow for us to complete a puzzle and go on to the next with ease. If we were ever stuck our Game Master- Tom was brilliant in drawing our focus to a particular object in the room, without giving away too much but enough for us to understand and proceed to the next puzzle. He would give you enough hint/s without being intrusive at all. Tom was an amazing Game Master. Even though there was a lot going on in the room, you would know a prop from a clue simply by Tom explaining in detail of what the difference was at the beginning of the game. This meant you wouldn’t be spending too much time on something which you may think is a clue but in fact it’s only used as a prop. Everything in the room made so much sense. Even though we didn’t escape within the 60 minutes, we still managed to escape with a little more time. We had so much fun and loved every minute of it!
Tom suggested we do The Cabin room next, so we are definitely going to book that in soon!
There is a reason why The Cipher Room is rated Number 1 in Sydney. If you are having second thoughts about The Cipher Room and going to book elsewhere, please don’t! Do yourself a favour and book it in straight away! I promise you won’t regret it! My friends and I couldn’t stop talking about it afterwards! We are agents! 🕵🏻🕵🏼🕵🏻♀️🕵🏻♀️

This place is always a lot of fun. We did the Cabin (after getting about halfway through last time) and finished it. We had such a good time and the puzzles are really great! The set design is amazing too, if you're a horror fan I'd highly recommend this room

A group of 6 of us booked in to do The Marlowe Hotel at the Cipher Room in Newtown. We were able to escape with only a few minutes to spare and enjoyed the experience SO MUCH! A lot of thought clearly went into creating the theme, storyline, puzzles and clues in The Marlowe Hotel and the level of detail made for a fantastic time. The puzzles were challenging and diverse and targeted at different types of thinkers. The staff were very friendly. I can’t recommend the Cipher Room enough if you are looking for an immersive escape room experience! My group will definitely be back to do the other rooms!

We attempted the Marlowe Hotel game at Cipher Room. Having done a few escape rooms before we liked our chances, but this one was really tough! Definitely recommended for experienced escape roomers and larger groups, as there are lots of puzzles to solve. The room itself was highly immersive and detailed, with multiple sections to explore. Staff were very friendly and provided guidance rather than solutions. Highly recommended, I can't wait to try their other rooms!

I think that the Cipher room was very worth it and have already recommended it to so many people! If you’re looking for a really fun and exciting journey but love puzzles and quests, the Cipher Room is exactly what you’re looking for. I had an amazing experience and i was impressed with the quality of the all the props and environments. I did the Marlowe Hotel room and immensely enjoyed it and found it extremely immersive. I am looking forward to going to more in the future as soon as possible!!

Cipher room is amazing! There is such a high attention to detail put into everything here, from the atmosphere they create with the lobby’s decor to the confirmation email to the design of the rooms themselves. We played the Cabin and it had such a great array of puzzles and the room felt real. Our game master Tom was so lovely and knowledgeable and spent so much time talking to us about the rooms after our game which was greatly appreciated. And we loved the system of getting a pin to say you completed the room! We will definitely be back to finish our collection ☺️

Had a fantastic time doing the Espionage room. We got stuck a few times, but our excellent games master was good at giving us hints without strait up telling us the answer.
My only suggestion for improvement is the part where you need to use binoculars. Getting them to focus was extremely difficult.
Apart from that, it was a very well designed escape room and i would highly recommend people to give it a shot!
