I loved this little beach which is pretty much the center of this little town that had a cafe and real estate office . . . and residences. There were exotic birds, great cliffs, one of which I climbed, striking sunsets and sunrises, a hike...More

Beautiful beach which we visited in February and despite being "busy season" it was really quiet. Great for a swim but some side to side rips to be a little cautious of. THe public toilets near the surf club where clean and in good working...More

We visited Whiritoa Beach on a weekday and it was virtually deserted with a few people and gulls dotted here and there along the whole stretch. The white beach was glistening in the summer sun and was a fantastic place for a stroll, we enjoyed...More

Whiritoa is a small settlement, not many permanent residents, mostly beach batches, with a small dairy/general store. It has a great "laid-back, old-world" NZ feel. Lot's of the people know each other and stop to chat. Its a quite big beach, so no problems getting...More

Fantastic beach to relax and explore. Is not as big as whangamata beach but is a beautiful spot where you can enjoy and go with your kids to have a fun and safe day!

That's my selfish perspective. The fewer people who go there the better. It's a beautiful beach, with surf patrol at peak times. It's long and wide, with mainly white sand, albeit black at the river mouth. There's a blowhole at one end, a river and...More

I have to admit I was intrigued by the reviews, which said it was a hidden gem and away from the crowds. I know Hahei and some other beaches are pretty amazing, but they can be really crowded at times. So we ventured out to...More

I shouldn't tell you anything good about Whiritoa Beach as I just love how quiet it is. I have been holidaying there for nearly 15 years and no matter what the weather it just brings me bliss. We were there on Sunday 21st May and...More

I am reluctant to review this gem of a place as its beauty includes the lack of people and commercialism. Most people pass by on their way between Waihi and Whangamata. With a surf life saving club and 1 tiny shop where you can purchase...More

Whiritoa Beach is a great hidden Gem between Wahi and Whangamata. We were here in March for a week and had the whole beach for our own. This place is good for sun bathing swimming, fishing and relaxing.
