Chandeshwari, a beautiful mother goddess temple
Nov. 2019
Chandeshwari, on the outskirts of Banepa 15 miles east of Kathmandu, is a beautiful 17th Century Mother Goddess temple where the demon Chanda was defeated (see "The Nepala-Mahatmya of Sikanda Purana," by Dr. Jayaraj Acharya, for details). It is a major pilgrimage site. An important chariot festival parades the goddess through the city on the full moon of Baisakh, first month of the Nepali calendar. The mural of Bhairab, on the outside of the temple, is particularly impressive.

Peaceful and Serene Place
Sep. 2017 • Family
Located amidst a well protected community forest just beneath a hill, this temple has great vibration, right for Hindu Pilgrims. Being located in a old business town apprx. 1 hour away from Kathmandu, it is very peaceful. The temple is protected and preserved by Newari community. The temple has picnic spots built around and is quite a good place to visit during winter as it is warmly wrapped by the sunshine at all points.
