- rachel tHalesowen, United Kingdom24 contributionsWhat an experience! It’s a must if you like marine life, the stingrays are totally free to come and go as they please but choose to be around, be looked at and even touched. It is in the middle of the ocean but the water is about chest height so you do not have to be a strong swimmer unless you want to do some snokelling also. These creatures are gentle giants and it was amazing to spend time with them.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 November 2023
- j0lidaysFalkirk District, United Kingdom39 contributionsAmazing! We were in a big group which was not ideal however the experience was fabulous. There were many rays which swam in between people and often touched your legs. There was an opportunity to feed them which was special and a photographer was there taking pictures which you could buy for $15 when you got back. On our visit not many fish to see. Definitely an experience to try - we loved it!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 December 2023
- KCK9 contributionsAbsolutely worth it!!Most Antiguans are a little grumpy and this place is no exceptions. However, the tour is absolutely worth it! We did the Southern Rays and the Giant Tortoises (90 min, $90) and absolutely loved it! The rays are bigger than in Cayman and the morning tour wasn't crowded so there was lots of time to interact with the rays. The giant tortoises are imported from the Seychelles but no less of an experience. You can feed and pet them - and the guide there was wonderful. This should among the top 3 things to do in Antigua!Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 21 May 2024

Visited for the first time. Just far too busy for us to get to enjoy the experience.
On a cruise tour and imo the numbers going out to stingrays should have been halved and time cut as well to really enjoy the experience.

We had a great experience here as part of the xtreme boat tour. We were part of a group of ten that had the place to ourselves. We had our boat crew, rangers and photographers looking after us and all our needs. We learnt how to handle the rays safely and got some great photos, and an opportunity to feed them and were in no way rushed or crowded. It was a great experience handling these wild rays in a safe way. Well done on producing a great experience

Was a all around great trip, boat was comfortable, even in the 4' x 6' waves.
best to do the trip at the start of your vacation, it gives you a view and discription of the hole island.
staff were great, easy to understand, very acomidating.

Went on this trip as part of our Caribbean cruise on Britannia. So far (only one more place to visit) it was the best trip we did the whole time. Fantastic staff, quick boat ride out to the sand bank. Amazing experience with the rays. Would definitely recommend and would go back again if ever back in Antigua.

These fish are huge(well the females anyway)....I didn't know what to expect but trying to climb onto my husbands shoulders to get out of the water ,was not one of them...I was completely terrified and kept saying to him 'I don't like it "!!! over and over again but after about 5 minutes, I pulled myself together and said to myself ......come on,get over this stupid fear.......they are just fish!!
How very wrong I was?
This was one of the best things I have ever done and after I actually touched one, everything changed .
They are completely free to come and go...Not caged or even trapped in the sea ......they arrive for food, know the sound of the boats arriving and are the most playful and majestic creatures...Yes they have stings but you would have to be pretty stupid to stand on one of their tails.
Our instructions were made very clear before we left the shore and the organisers were passionate about their responsibilities to their wild life.So much so that the fish actually cuddle, massage and play with the staff( like the fish actually know and recognize them ,which I am sure they do).
This was so much better than swimming with dolphins and has to be my most impressive memory and I am so pleased I got over my stupid fear as I will remember this for the rest of my life.
Totally brilliant.

This place is a long drive from most places and it is VERY expensive to participate. ($50 per person) Staff was unfriendly as well so it made our decision to not go, very easy.

I was worried that these animals had been corralled into a small space but they are free to swim in and out of the bay. They are offered food to attract them, of course, but this was fish from their normal diet. We spent about an hour in the water, in shallow, waist high water (so not scary for non-swimmers) and interacted with about two dozen rays. They are safe and friendly and don't mind being touched. An incredible experience.

We took a short boat ride to the landing where we were greeted by stingrays. We had plenty of time to feed, hold, caress and just fun frolicking with the stingrays. I fed them plenty because no one else was. We were told to keep our thumb tucked in. I thought it was until it was it the mouth. It stung but no blood was drawn. They don't have teeth. I also fed the smaller fish. Lots of striped fish. Then I snorkels on the boundary of the Buoys, there were more fish to observe there.

How do they get the sting rays there?
Written 31 December 2021
Hi We are planning on coming in December and would love to visit Stingray city but I can not swim.. Would i still be able to do this
Written 9 September 2018
No swimming required. You are loaded on an open motorboat to the feeding area, then helped down a ladder to waist-deep water. You can stand and interact with the rays without leaving your feet.
