You can find it in the near of Liberec in North Bohemia. Its an unique example of Neo-Gothic castle /reconstructed in the beginning of the 19th century on the base of former fortress and of a little baroque castle by French aristocratic family Rohan/. In the castle collections you can see portraits of the Rohans and of the French kings.... More

Did not get a tour. We showed at 10am when the castle opened and booked into the 1015 tour. We waited in the courtyard until 1030 then asked when the tour would be. We were told the tour had left and that we would have to wait until 1130. But both us and another couple were waiting in the courtyard... More

Wonderful little market of some gorgeous localy made gifts and food. The castle was decorated for Christmas. Although the tour was only in Czech, they have a programme in English and was pretty easy to follow along. All the portraits on the walls are originals, and in amazing condition. You really get a sense of how the nobility lived. Very... More

I live fairly local so I thought that I should try to boost the popularity of this gorgeous place. As others have already said this is more a Chateau than castle (a bit of Czech poetic licence). Beautifully appointed building with a relaxing garden and the most lovely orangery. The house tour is a bit brisk and yes you will... More

Very nice place to visit. Although only in Czech spoken we received a description in our own language. But the tour was 'high speed' and we hardly had time to look around for more than a minute.

First sight of this castle leaves one rather confused from an architectural point of view. In the courtyard there are banners for French aristocratic families and the feel is off a chateau. When the tour starts, in Czech but with an english booklet, all becomes clear. Having initally been a Czech castle which was then acquired by Wallenstein it was... More

A magnificent palace, rather than castle, encompassing a lovely large garden with an outstanding collection of mature trees. Although the palace is very extensive and highlights superb craftsmanship in so many areas, it retains the feeling of a family home, albeit that of a very wealthy family. It has a much warmer feel to it than many palaces or castles... More

This is one of the most architecturally beautiful buildings I have ever toured. As you progress throughout the castle each room is just more fabulous than the previous. The detail and carving is a testament to the craftsman that created it. The doors are also interesting, the carving on each side is different. Each matches the room they enclose. Look... More

Great stop over in the way from Liberec to Turnov! The castle is an interesting mix if Baroque and Neo-Gothics. Try good local wine in the small souvenir shop (right of the entrance) and enjoy carvings inside the castle!

We arrived at the castle after dark. It was lit up nicely. It happened to be a cold rainy night, as well. The castle is not heated. We had a splendid organ recital before a tour of the castle. Our guide knew a lot about the Rohan family and the history of the castle. The castle is a very nice... More
