About
The Salt Mine Nemocón with over 500 years of history underground is an attraction of Colombia in South America, imposing building at 80 meters deep. Mining tunnels descending the mountain bearing the visitors begin their journey through this amazing construction that will take you to the House of mirrors natural brine, salt cascade over 80 years old and the fountain or wishing well, which they are some of the magical places to discover. In the chamber of the Chapel with its enormous sphere carved in rock salt 1300 kilos symbolizing the world's mining tradition is revived, wedding vows, thanksgivings miners, drivers and devotees of the Virgen del Carmen are renewed. In hunch camera or the lovers I surprised with the salt crystal only 1,600 kilos in the world, carved in the shape of heart.

A waste of time. 30 minutes drive from Zipaquira. Pay $8 per person to enter, to then be told you can only go on an accompanied tour. The next 50 minutes away. Or pay an extra $20 for an exclusive tour. We were the only two people there, it is going to be an exclusive tour anyway.
So I'm not promoting this by adding photos. The way they work you'll need at least half a day out of Zipaquira or a day from Bogota to do this tour, it's not worth that.

Definitely a must see. I recommend to pay and extra 80.000pesos to get a private tour. The whole thing lasts approx 90mins. Interesting underground scenery!

Not far from the capital, Bogota, this Salt Mine is beautiful. You can not miss the water mirrors and the salt heart. The tour is guided and fun for all.

This is the "other Salt Mine". It's a worthwhile trip. Though it's not as big and commercial as the other, you get to see some amazing things in the mine. It's a 1 hour tour, not including the trip to the mine, from Bogota and back, it's a minimum 4 hour trip.

Very Good alternative to a trip to Bogotá Sabana. You will have acces to a small natural history museum.

The redirecting pools here are fantastic. The rest of the tour is so-so, and the science they're telling is definitely at the edge of being wrong in many cases.

The guide spoke English, which was nice.

It was a pain to get here from Bogota, bus to Zipaquirá then Nemocon. What we expected to be 4 or 5 hours in total ended up taking us the entire day, and we didn't get back to Bogota until after dark.

We went for one day trip and was enough to enjoy thesalt mine and the small town in Nemocón. The mine can privide you safe helment and all the instruction to take care of you inside the mine.the guide Nelly is veeery good and all the time with happy face explaining this wonder! I will advice this mine better than Zipaquirá! Keep doing well.

A very interesting, educational and worth visit .
We had an English guide/translator that is also perfectly fluent in French .
The entrance cost to the salt mine is very low for international standards about $ 15 dollars per person and the distant from Bogota by private car is about one hour via a paved road.
The process of the brine pools and the history of the mine is fascinating .

i recommend tacking on a trip to here after visiting Zipa salt cathedral. there is a minibus that goes from Zipa->Nemecon and back.

the few things i like about Mina de Sal del Nemecon

* mirror image of the salt cavern. very cool and it is probably the most perfect reflection i have seen.

* the 'hollywood' set of the movie "The 33". The movie is based on the true story of 33 trapped Chilean salt miners underneath the Atacama desert, but was filmed using Mina de Sal del Nemocon as the backdrop.

* the heart-shaped salt sculpture.

one thing is for sure : you will have a work out climbing up and down 2 salt mines in one-day

see more details here on the logistics of getting there.
