Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

1-2 hours??? We were out of there in 10 minutes. The distillery is very small and the tour takes about 5-10 minutes. Anyway, the kicker was that there were five of us (my husband, me, and my three adult children 23,21, and 19.) and the girl poured me one half shot of each flavor (three in total) and then told me to share the pours with rest of my family. What? The fifth person didn't even get anything. We had so much generosity throughout Greece and Naxos, this was unexpected. We bought nothing and took our spending dollars elsewhere.

In the small village of Halki, former capital of Naxos, there is a tiny distillery of the local drink Kitron. There are 2 small rooms to visit with some ancient objects. The family continues to make this drink from 1896 to the present day. There are very few explanations in the mini museum but with our guide we had enough comments to understand the origin of the event made with Kitron, a citrus variety. It tastes somewhere between orange and lemon. The degree of alcohol varies according to the color of the drink that is typical of the island of Naxos.

Vallindras is the oldest distillery of kitro in Naxos. They keep the building like a museum for everyone to see and they sell kitro , ouzo and psemeni. They have great hospitality and a tasting experience on the house. The place is open from 10:00 - 5:30 and 19:30- 22:30 everyday.

The visit this week was our second visit to the distillery. The first time we visited was in March and there were no other visitors so we had a very special visit being shown around by one of the owners. This time we were with others in a tour group and our tour leader explained the workings of the distillery. It didn’t have the same magic but the Kitron we bought was just as nice as on our previous visit and we were able to taste slighted varieties of the spirit.

Nice little distillery in Halki. Worth a visit if you're in town, though I wouldn't make a special trip just to visit. They didn't have a tour as such, but we were able to go in the distillery where they had information on how Kitron is made, and then we could try the different varieties for free.
It was a great set up for having Kitron cocktails from their bar on Naxos waterfront later in the evening. There is also a Kitron cafe in the town of Halki.

Wandered in just to buy some of the local liquor. Didn’t realise it came in three different strengths and the lady explained these to me. She then asked if I wanted to see the distillery which I accepted.

Small little distillery that is worth a pop into. Our bus tour guide gave us a thorough tour and even did the tasting - I'm sure he was family! A very historic place making a very unique product by a family that has been making it for generations with locally sourced ingredients. There's a gift shop to purchase alcohol and souvenirs.

Short stop. Was asked if we did the tour which consisted of looking at a few items. Not very informative.
The onto a tasting which was appreciated. Cute small bottles can be bought.

The distillery is nice for its history - but the place is very small and only take 5 min to tour. Therefore, if this is the only reason why you are coming here, it would probably be better to pass on it if you're coming from a far location.

Buonasera, ho visitato la Distilleria ed acquistato il Kitron Giallo, ora, dato che l'ho finito, vorrei ri acquistarlo ma non riesco a trovare nessun rivenditore qui in italia. Mi sapete indicare a chi posso rivolgermi. Grazie. Giampiero
