About
What is an Escape Room? An Escape Room is a fun and exciting experience like no other. You are placed into a specially designed room with your friends and you have to solve a series of puzzles using only the items in the room to progress through a story and find your way out. You will have 60 minutes to successfully complete your objective. Each puzzle is different and will require you think inventively. You will need to think about clues carefully, analyse your surrounding, use objects in unusual ways and work as a team to escape. As you solve each puzzle you’ll uncover new information that will make you rethink everything in the room. Communication with your team is the most important tool to use if you want to get out in time. Escape Rooms first begun in 2007 in Japan and have quickly spread to all corners of the globe. In Australia, escape rooms started in Melbourne and then made their way across the country. As the awareness of escape rooms grew it was important that Canberra has its own escape room so we weren’t being left behind. The Nightmare Room You are contacted by the DreamWake Corp. an experimental science facility that specialise in Oneirology, the study of dreams. They have developed a new technology which can transfer a conscious mind into another's subconscious. They need your help with a particular case; a patient is trapped inside a recurring nightmare. The DreamWake Corp. believe that if you are able to go deep into her subconscious and find out what is causing the nightmare she’ll be able to wake up. This procedure has never been fully tested and once inside you'll only have 60 minutes before you lose your connection and become trapped inside her nightmare forever. Anything could happen in the Nightmare Room.

We had a blast completing The Dungeon at the Riddle Room.

Infinite compliments to Sarah - whilst we were deeply tempted to parkour one of the challenges, her clues were on point, instructions were delivered well from start to finish, and she kept the room challenging (and free of broken equipment).

Can firmly recommend The Dungeon as a great team room and the Riddle Room as a phenomenal venue for escape room enthusiasts in Canberra.

Our thanks to Sarah again!

Having never been to an escape room before, I didn't know what to expect. Dion was the 'Guide', who set up the room and took us through the rules. His lighthearted delivery made us feel relaxed before we took on the Nightmare.

The game is exciting, frustrating, challenging and an absolutely great experience. Fortunately for us, Dion was on hand with clues when my wife needed them :-)
If you are looking for an activity to stretch the ol grey matter, give the Riddle Room a call!!!

We took our sons for their 15th birthday in December (The Hotel), 18th birthday April (The Nightmare) respectfully 4 months apart. We had a great time with both. Managed to complete and get out of them both thanks to the generosity of the staff who were our guides when we got stuck and have us the time needed. The challenges were good and it was great to see my sons in action with what they could do to help their parents get out. Wouldn't have been able to do it without them. We've done two rooms and would like to do the other two rooms sometime. You get a locker to put your belongings in so that you're free and can concentrate on doing the room without worrying about or carting your stuff around. Had a great time. It tests to see how well you can work as a team. The more people the better.

The Dungeon Escape Room at Riddle Room Mitchell was a great birthday present given to me by my three twenty-something sons who came along. The staff were extremely accomodating and helpful. The room design and the clues were keeping with the theme. Danni our host really made it a fun experience. The whole experience was just the right duration for a family get together. Each member of our group of five got to solve puzzles - it wasn't just one person running the show. We all worked together which made it a great bonding experience that we talked about over dinner afterwards. We had heaps of fun. I highly, highly recommend and we will be back to do more. Small suggestion: If you are an oldie like me with poor eyesight you may want a tiny torch to see the numbers on the locks as dungeons can be on the dark side.

My friends and I completed the Hideaway last night, it was such a fun and unique experience! We loved the film noir ambience coupled with the hard-boiled detective theme. Unfortunately we ran over time by about 6 or 7 minutes but still managed to solve the case, it was so fun and exciting, would definitely recommend for people wanting a more challenging escape room as some of the tasks and puzzles were really quite tricky. Would absolutely come back and try the others!

We did the hotel and it was super fun. I don't know the name of the guy that help us but we went Monday (14/09/2020 at 4) he was super nice, helpful and made us feel great about the entire experience. I would say maybe there is a need of getting more clues when you finish a task instead of having to ask for one, but it was a thrilling experience and I highly recommend this place. It was our first escape room and we'll definitely go back for another.

We did our first Escape Room....The Nightmare Room on Sunday night and couldnt wait to do another one. Went again last night (Wednesday) and did The Hotel Room. Had a fantastic time, the puzzles were clever and challenging. Working together as a family to escape was such a great feeling, highly recommend for a fun experience. Our host was great, giving us a few hints but not too much to give it away completely, looked after us well.

My partner and I have done many an escape room, we love them. We’re from Brisbane and we’ve almost tapped out on them all there!

We came to Canberra for work and had an extra few hours to kill before flying back and decided to give Riddle Room a go.

We did The Dungeon and it was BY FAR the best escape room we’ve done in Australia.

The puzzles are genius, so creative and so different from everywhere else. We found it to be the perfect amount of confusion before figuring it out and the staff are so friendly and welcoming and more than happy to stay back with you after you finish and explain the puzzles. They also give you 10 minutes of overtime, if you couldn’t quite complete it in 60 minutes, and they have statistics on how long you spent on each puzzle.

Would recommend to anyone! Apparently only a few rooms are doable by 2 people, but we will be coming back to Canberra to do the others soon.

Do yourself a favour, go do an escape room at Riddle Room.

This was our third trip to the Riddle Room Canberra, with ‘The Hideaway’ being the perfect Father’s Day gift from our daughters.
This room was an excellent choice to play as a family (ages 10, 13 and 15) with no jump scares and extremely playable content. Lots of puzzles with enough to challenge us all, and got out with 6 minutes to spare. Leah was a fabulous game master, thanks! We only requested one help, but it was promptly given. 10/10 - go play this one!

Yesterday was my second/third time doing an escape room at Riddle room and I had a fantastic time. Doing an escape room with my family for the first time ( I usually go with friends) I was apprehensive of to if they would enjoy it or not, they definitely did and came out asking to do more escape rooms in the future!
The Dungeon room is a great choice for people who have experience with doing escape rooms and are up for a solid challenge (it is the hardest room).

Our host Finn was just lovely and I'd go back just for him.

I would say that it may not be a good choice for vision impaired people, as my father did not get much enjoyment out of the experience as he was unable to read/do any combination locks as he couldn't read them (even with his glasses), due to the low light conditions.
