This is the new and active rock monastery. Mildly strenuous but short walk up the cliff stairs. Interesting site overall. Ancient living rooms, chapel, artifacts. 5 living monks have 2 masses daily and you will probably see some of them.

I went there after my visit to Ivanovo rock monastery and may be that is why I took it as its shadow. However, the place is very well maintained, beautiful and picturesque, although not as ancient. It is worth a visit though.

Stopped by and glad I did as it is interesting to see a monastery built into the side of a hill. An hour is plenty of time to see it so stop by but don't plan on spending a day.

The monastery was a great site to see, as it was carved into the face of the mountain. There also beautiful murals decorating the monastery walls. Even the surrounding landscape was a site to see. There were great photo opportunities thought out the site.

Not far from Ruse suggestive monastery in the rock. Today tree monks live inside. Nice view of the surrounding valley.

Hi, The easiest and quick way to visit the place is by taxi. Allow 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the whole trip and visit. Since you are on a tour on the river, your agent should know about the organised visit to the monastery and... More
