Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A full day tour of Finisterre and the Costa da Morte with Tour Galicia included a visit at this stone granary dating to 1768. Measuring a whooping 115 feet long (35 meters), it is known as the longest in Galicia. Having walked the Portuguese Camino, I saw numerous horreos, but none this super-sized! The horreos store grain off the ground to keep rodents and other critters out. There is a nearby parish church but the doors where closed when we were there. Carnota makes for a nice short stop if you are visiting nearby Finisterre.

If you travel through Galicia, you see "horreos" everywhere. Naturally, it is almost obligatory to visit the biggest one. It is open, you can see what is inside (not much, I confess). The access by car is quite tight, but you will make it.

Biggest horreo in Galicia.
I am not a fan of these items but if you are in the area, it is worth a quick visit, especially if you then go to Carnota beach

The countryside is dotted with grain stores of every size, from tiny 3-row to this huge one with 30 rows of posts. Traditionally used to store maize and any other produce that needs to be kept out of reach of rodents and stored in a cool, dry, well ventilated environment. Bulit from cut granite and assembled without the use of cement, these structures are beautiful, functional and stand-up to the wind and rain.

This is an impressive sight: a long grain storage container dating back to the 18th century! It gives you a sense of not only how grain storage was done then but also a sense that understanding the quantity of grain available to the population. It places value on agriculture too putting into perspective the farmer's job and so is educational too.

Along the coast on the way to Fisterra, Carnota has several claims to fame. One is its 7km long beach (though for some reason empty in October), another is its stone horreo (granary), of which there are many in the region, but this is one of the longest in the world, dating back to 1768 and stands alongside the typical town church of the region.
If I am honest, it is interesting but not worth making a huge detour for. It would have been good to see inside the church which, interestingly, has a bridge over to the cemetery.
A third is the Nacho Porto Ceramica, where local artist Nacho Porto creates his unique ceramics taking local traditions and giving them a surrealist twist.

Impressive when standing in front of it. Especially when thinking about its erection, in 1760. Wondering whether it is still in use. Inclusief some pictures of other hórreos.

As all the guide books point out this grain storage container is impressive for its length. My only disappointment was the lack of upkeep, not of the hórreo itself but of the signs explaining its history. When we visited the main sign was so covered in dirt and green scum--this is a very humid setting--that we couldn't make out the writing. With a dry cloth I was able to clean it a bit and make the words more legible. My question is: if your village has only one thing to see, why not at least take a few minutes to make it more beautiful for the visitor and give him a good impression to take on his trip.
