Nice little spot on the St. Lawrence river, lots of history here. There are signs put up by Parks Canada, that explain the significance of the site, and the history involved. Also a pathway that goes down to the river bank, not wheelchair accessible.

Interesting Site to read and understand the battle between Canada and the US. It is located on the North shore of the St Lawerence River. The town of Prescott is connected to the town of Ogdensburg, New York, USA.

Gorgeous spot, fascinating bit of history behind it. Site of an abortive American invasion in 1838, inspired by the rebellions and 'subversive' Canadian republican rhetoric. It has been argued though that this was a failed Alamo style episode of 1830s American expansionism. Read up on...More

Unfortunately, the site was closed when we visited, but the outside signage was informative. There is no designated parking, but we were able to park across the street.

We live in the area so we grew up knowing about the important battle that happened on this site in 1838. It's a really neat spot but I gave it a 3 instead of a 4 because you won't be able to see inside most...More

I gave it a low rating as it never seems to be open. However you can walk around it and view the plaques. Very peaceful site

An important battle occurred here, at what was originally a windmill, in 1838 and troops gathered at Fort Wellington to prepare for battle in the Canadian Rebellions. Visitors can climb the tower but check dates and times.

Again, the site was not open, but we walked around and read all the plaques. We were lucky to meet an engineer who was inspecting the structure for the Canadian Parks Service who told us a lot about the history of the building as the...More
