Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My nephew, who is into martial arts, is named Bruce (after Bruce Lee). He says that Bruce Lee was a great exponent of martial arts, better than he was an actor. Exactly why this statue was erected in Kogarah I am not sure, but it's a good statue that captures Bruce Lee's action and movement.

Bruce Lee was & still is the coolest, baddest & toughest Asian ever to snap-kick someone in the head. The statue of the Asian Dragon in the middle of the Sydney suburb famous for being home to rugby league club the St George-Illawarra Dragons & head office to St George Bank makes for a clever gift from the people of China. It makes Kogarah one of a few places in the world with a statue of a kung-fu master, very cool!
Donated by Kogarah’s Chinese sister city of Shunde, Guangdong province, the ancestral home of Lee’s family, was a gift to foster cultural ties with Kogarah. The full sized bronze-sculptured statue
The statue is of Lee also known in Asia as ‘The Dragon’ in his iconic fighting pose in full bronze cast, shirt thrown off, muscles ripped & fully focused before launching a flying kick into a group of 20 attackers, maybe 50 but probably 120! This is one for the ladies to admire as well as to all the 30-somethings who grew up arguing with their best friends on who would win a fight between Bruce Lee & Muhammad Ali.
The statue itself is located on quiet Belgrave road, Kogarah, across the road from the Greek Orthodox Church of the Resurrection & about 50 metres from the council building. It is within the square surrounded by a few cafes which is overlooked by an apartment complex above populated by many Chinese-Australians. Kogarah is located about 15 mins from Newtown on the Princes highway in Sydney.

This is an easy to identify statue of Bruce Lee off to the side of the Kogarah Town Square. Visit and see it for a little bit before/after your meal or drink around the area.
I think this was done as part of a sister city arrangement with some random city in China.

Bruce Lee was a Chinese-American martial artist and actor. This statue was a gift to Kogarah by Shunde, Kogarah's sister city in Guangdong, South China. Following Lee's untimely death in 1973, this life-size statue has graced Kogarah's town square since 2012.. The statue has recently been refurbished. Lee, as a master of the martial arts, attracts much attention. Even citizens who could see little connection between Bruce Lee and Kogarah admit that the statue is a civic asset.

Bruce Lee was a master of martial arts, his accidental death was a tragedy for film goers around the world. The statue is a good likeness. Kogarah obtained the statue through a connection with its sister city in China. Although Kogarah is not known as a centre for the martial arts, the statue is popular with visitors.

I walked past this statue and have absolutely no idea what it is about or represents? I know who Bruce Lee was but I don't know what his connection to Kogarah is?

It's a statue of Bruce Lee ready to fight, luckily it's close to the hospital if it comes over all night at the museum and decides to fight you, it's free to see and the only interesting thing in a otherwise boring suburb, Go Hurstville!
