There are just few small shops, no ATM or bank office. Hiking from Omalo in Tusheti to Shatili in Khevsureti is an absolute delight. Better to hire horse with guide to take your staff.

Great place to vist, especially for the fall colors. Make sure you get out before the main pass closes, or stay the next 8 months :-)

Hi, Yes it is possible to live your car in Omalo. But be prepared that there is no petrol or car repair service in the whole Tusheti. Also no bank and ATM, just small shops around. When do you plan do to your trip? The main... More
1. Can I get to Tusheti with SUV 2x4? - I can order from rentalcars-com only SUV vehicle group, they refuse to guarantee that I get 4x4 and not 2x4! 2. Is it dangerous to drive to Tusheti by myself if I have no experience of driving Jeeps (SUV)? 3. Can you advice me any local that can drive me there and back?

1. You need SUV 4X4 in Tusheti. 2. It is remarkable that the Omalo-Alvani highway is one of the most difficult driving sections in Georgia, which goes along ground path to high mountains. This path was recorded in the list... More
I am looking for info on the drive over the Abano Pass... my husband and I want to drive ourselves in a hired 4x4. Have any other travellers driven yourselves? I am only really worried about passing oncoming traffic at tight spots... Thanks!
